RELOADING!
The fans continue to put out amazing fan-made films that puts Hollywood to shame. This time, Northern Five Entertainment and Airsoft GI put together a mind-blowing short film titled ‘Left 4 Dead: Impulse 76′ based on the hit zombie-shooter game, ‘Left 4 Dead’ by Valve. The acting and special effects is top notch and the action is relentless. I also love the surprise at the end. I would have to say that I am more than willing to pay a pretty penny to see this masterpiece on the big screen. I don’t want some big studio to do it. I want these guys to do it. They understand L4D, gaming, and what the fans want. We want THIS. It also doesn’t hurt that the beautiful, Meagan Marie makes a cameo as well.

This just might be the coolest handmade ‘Portal 2′ Wheatley puppet I have ever seen. Created by graphic designer, “TRP-Chan”, this awesome Wheatly puppet features lights and movement and the best part is that it can say ten different quotes!
I absolutely loved Portal 2 and as soon as I finished it I knew I had to build myself a Wheatley. Because Wheatley is the best thing ever. This guy’ll be a prop alongside a Chell costume I’ll be wearing.
He’s roughly life-sized at approximately 12 inches across (might be an inch or two short of Wheatley’s real diameter) and works as a puppet, using the hole in his back for access to his controls. His eyeplate and eyelids both move. He also plays 10 quotes from the game. His eye is lit up in some of the pictures there.. I really wish my camera could deal with the light better. You can actually see all the details when it’s lit up, but the camera just washes them all out.

Unfortunately, TRP-Chan will not be selling this puppet and also doesn’t have the time or part to make more to sell to other Portal fans. Shucks!

Okay… so this is my second “Osama” related post of the day and I’m going to make sure it’s my last. Unless you were the President or the shot caller behind US Navy SEAL Team Six who took out Osama Bin Laden, we really won’t know what went down in Bin Laden’s Abottabad complex in Pakistan. Well, thanks to a few avid fans of Valve’s ‘Counter Strike: Source’, now you can get a first hand look into the compound in a very cool customized map. It might not be anyway close to the real thing, but it still cool to imagine right? I do love Counter Strike and I probably put in years worth of time playing the game. It’s probably the main reason I wear glasses now and due to this map, I kind of want to play again… BOOM HEADSHOT!

Teachers aren’t as stupid as you think. Yesterday was the launch date for the highly anticipated video game, ‘Portal 2′ from Valve. I presume a lot of people decided to ditch school and work to get some game time in, so it is expected there will be empty seats in the classroom and workplace. It seems that for one professor, there was such a huge amount of students calling in sick, that the professor decided to cancel the class and call them on their lies.
Class,
I have already have had several students email me today and ask for tomorrow’s lecture notes because they will be too sick to attend class. Due to the high number of students that are feigning illness to play Portal, there will be no class tomorrow, April 19.
Remember that the makeup lecture is Wednesday from 5-7PM and your Project 4 is still due on Thursday.
HA! Sucks to be you guys. Not only did you get called out on a lie, you still have to make up the lecture on your free time AND you got no extension on your project due date. I’m pretty sure you can say that this email might be a hoax, but who cares. If there is even a small chance of it being real (and there is), I would like to think that someone got “pwned” for trying to put one over their teacher.

Who loves ‘Left 4 Dead 2′? I do! I do! I love running around with a fully loaded AK-47 mowing down the undead in a carnival. So you can imagine how gitty I got when I found out about this awesome interactive ‘Left 4 Dead’ movie by the creative crew at The Game Station (@tgstation). The idea is simple. Follow Husky, Dodger, Biscuit, Schroeder, and Total Biscuit as they try to survive a zombie infestation (ZOMG! JUST LIKE IN LEFT 4 DEAD!). As you watch the movie, you will come up to a point where you will have to decide the next move for the group. Once you made your choice, click the link and move onto a new video which shows whether your decision was the right one or not. Unfortunately, if you choose wrong, you die. When I came to making my choices, I was helpless. I automatically fell head over heel for Dodger (@HeartToContinue) and started following her around no matter how stupid the decision might be. Also, I tried to stay as far away from the guy with the plastic broom. Seriously… when zombies are knockin’ on your door, you’re going to go for the broom made by Rubbermaid? Geez buddy… I would ditch your ass if this was in real life.

Wow. This is so impressive, I don’t know what to say. Everyone is familiar with the weighted Companion Cube from Valve Corporation’s hit puzzle platform video game, ‘Portal’. Over the years, we have seen them recreated as papercraft, cakes, and more. However, I don’t think anyone has seen a Companion Cube case mod for a computer. Back in late 2009, “zAAm” decided to create a scaled down custom case mod to cleanly fit all the components for a working computer into a 25×25 Companion Cube. This is one hell of a feat considering everything but the actual computer hardware was made from scratch, including the LED lights. I find it mind blowing that he was able to work in the functions of the different components of the computer like the fan vents into the actual Companion Cube without distorting the look of the replica in any way shape or form. I’m not sure about you, but I would think this is just too pretty to actually use. Just the LED lights are cool enough, but to use it to look up porn? Thats a win in any person’s book. You can check here to find out how zAAm created his case mod!

Conceptual design and prop fabrication company, Weta Workshop has been responsible for some impressive special effects in films such a Lord of the Rings and District 9. This time, Weta created an ultra bad ass Sentry Gun from the game Team Fortress 2 for the game developer, Valve.
Last week we took delivery of the full-scale level 1 sentry gun, made for us by WETA Workshop – complete with a motion sensor and audio. It’s an incredible piece of craftsmanship that we just had to share with the TF2 community and any visitors brave enough to enter our lobby.
This sentry gun as all the bells and whistles. Its 1:1 scale and have motion tracking, lights and sounds, and more. The only thing it doesn’t do it fire any bullets. Too bad it can’t mow down any baddies while its sitting in Valve HQ. I am so envious…
