We finally get to see the first look into Disney’s new animated series, ‘TRON: Uprising’. Premiering on Disney XD in the summer, “Uprising” is a prequel, taking place before “Legacy”. There isn’t much detail about the story, but it looks like that (from the picture above) it will follow Kevin Flynn, TRON, and CLU as they build the GRID. The story might have been loosely based on what was explained in ‘TRON: Legacy’ about how the GRID came to be and about CLU’s rise to power. Even with the little details about the plot, there is an impressive cast of voice actors such as Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings), Emmanuelle Chriqui (Entourage), Mandy Moore (Tangled), Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee Herman), Nate Corddry, Lance Henriksen (Aliens), and Bruce Boxleitner (Alan Bradley in TRON). I don’t care what people said about TRON: Legacy. I freakin’ loved it. I hope “Uprising” is the same. From the looks of the quality of the score, character designs, and animation, this is going to be freakin’ awesome. I wonder if ‘Daft Punk’ had a hand in this.

Well, this is a bit crazy. I loved ‘TRON: Legacy’, but this is insane. I spotted the new “TRON: Legacy “The Ultimate TRON Experience” 5-disc set on ToplessRobot, I have to agree w/ TR that I didn’t like it THAT much. The special boxset includes, TRON: Legacy 3D Blu-ray, TRON: Legacy standard version Blu-Ray, TRON: Legacy DVD, TRON: Legacy Digital Copy, AND TRON classic Blu-Ray. Along with that array of nonsense, you get a collectible TRON: Legacy Identity Disc. WOW. That was a mouth full. All this for $100 ($70 if you buy on Amazon). Well, let see. TRON: Legacy’s production cost around $170 million along with a reported $150+ million on marketing. At around $320 million for the whole deal. After almost two months out, TRON: Legacy has mustarded up around $370 million worldwide (based on boxofficemojo). That being said, Disney is finding new and obnoxious ways to force feed you stuff so they can make a bigger profit on their “biggest movie of 2010″. Unfortunately, I’m sold. I’ll be ordering one with Amazon NOW.
Mondo x Alamo Drafthouse is well known for their amazing limited edition posters that they create for their premieres. One of my favorites this year would have been the variant ‘Iron Man 2‘ posters by Tyler Stout. One of the worst things is that these posters are very limited and sold at the theatre during the premiere or online in which they sell out in mere seconds. Well, there is some good news. Mondo x Alamo has hooked up with the infamous, Sideshow Collectibles to provide their amazing posters to the masses.
“We’re very excited to join forces with Sideshow Collectibles, the leading collectible manufacturer. We’re working on several major licensed film properties that we will roll out via this partnership,” said Mondo Creative Director Justin Ishmael.
First limited edition poster that Sideshow will offer is for Disney’s TRON and TRON: Legacy. The original limited edition prints will be available via mondotees.com and the variants will be available on Sideshow’s online retail site. This is good news indeed. If these are anything like Mondo’s ‘Star Wars‘ or ‘Star Trek‘ posters, these will be sought out by collectors for years!

Well, this is a first. An “official” (used very loosely) collaboration between Disney and Playboy. Yes I said it. Disney and Playboy. Playboy will be releasing a new feature called “Game On” which is a “sexy tribute to the neon-lit TRON revival”. What can be hotter than sexy ladies and light cycles? Playboy models, Irina Voronina and Sasckya Porto will be letting it all hang out in a ultra-neon pictorial themed to the world of TRON in celebration of the upcoming release of TRON: Legacy. Photographed by Jared Ryder and illustrated by Nigel Evan Dennis, these sexy dames are featured in various costumes (which end up coming off) and on the famous fan-made light cycles by the Parker Bros. Considering this is a tribute and Disney probably had no say on what was produced, the make up and costumes are well done and look very similar to what is being featured in the TRON: Legacy trailer. Wow…. nudity and identity discs… very sexy.

Lets face it. TRON and TRON Legacy features some of the most pwn-some vehicles, weapons, tech, etc. imaginable. Every fanboy and fangirl remembers there first encounter seeing the light cycle wizz by on the screen and we all dreamed about how bad ass it would be to ride one of those suckers. Sure, seeing Olivia Wilde in the trailer makes us feel funny in our pants, but regardless, nothing is more sexier than the light cycles and the different tech and gadgets from the world of TRON. Fortunately, Disney has released promotional high resolution images of some of the bitchin’ tech in the movie and conceptual art that went into designing TRON Legacy. TRON Legacy will definitely be a visual masterpiece and hopefully will be a sci-fi classic just like the original. TRON Legacy will release in IMAX 3D on December 17, 2010.

In 2005, Disney hired on screenwriters to write the follow up to 1982 sci-fiction thriller, ‘TRON’, named “TRON 2.0″. I remember hearing about this and I had no interest in watching a TRON sequel. I already had fond childhood memories of TRON filled with Light Cycles and crazy special effects that were unique at that time. Considering, how bad sequels and remakes have been in the past, it was terrifying to consider that a cinematic gem such as TRON can be ruined by a less than spectacular sequel.
