I’m not a guy that gets jealous easily, but I am envious of those of you that got the chance to go to WonderCon as be there for all the cool new sneak peeks. At a WonderCon panel for ‘ThunderCats’, a new trailer for shown to the crowd and from the looks of it, its pretty awesome. I do admit it seems like the animation and production was a bit rushed as it doesn’t look clean. I always put Japanese animation at the highest standards and it doesn’t seem to meet it with ThunderCats. Maybe there was issues with time and the budgets and they did what they can do so I can’t really blame them. However, from the looks of it, I do love the new character designs in action and Lion-O is lookin’ pretty fierce. I can’t tell whether I will like this new series compared to what I watched as a child and that is going to be some big shoes to fill. Regardless, I think I will enjoy the hell out of the new series and the toy line as well. THUNDERCATS… HOOOOOOO!

Humm… Interesting. I guess everyone forgot about the proposed CGI animated ‘ThunderCats’ project from a few years back. Flixist revealed what may or may not be test footage from Warner Bros. ThunderCats CGI movie. It looks like it is of a young Lion-O battling it out with baddie, Slithe and from what I see, the animation is pretty cool. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen any official press release from Warner Bros. that this footage is the real deal and I am suspecting that this may be fan-made. I would believe that if this footage was legit, Warner Bros. would have made an effort to remove it from YouTube until they officially release the video themselves. However, I don’t know whats going on in Holly-weird’s head sometimes so this is all an assumption. Regardless whether this is real CG test footage or not, the animation is quiet awesome (IF fan-made) and this would make for an epic ThunderCats feature once they get all the little kinks solved like the terrible voice acting.
What do you think? Is this legit or fake? Hit the jump and decide.

ThunderCats has become a hot license in the merchandising world. With Warner Bros. Animation and Studio 4°C working on a reboot for Cartoon Network, toy designers are on red-alert to be one of the first to bring out new T-Cats goods to ride the wave. This is the case with statue designer/manufacturer, Pop Culture Shock. PCS released a teaser of a wicked mixed-medium statue of Mumm-Ra. PCS is well known for their giant ‘Street Fighter’ 1:4 scale statues so this Mumm-Ra statue is bound to be awesome. Like most of PCS statues, Mumm-Ra will most likely feature various costume parts that will be made of cloth and will be released in the 1:4 scale. It too bad that this statue is up to be review for approval with the license holder. Once given the green light, we will get more details on how much this bad ass statue will be and when it will be released.

Thunder, Thunder, THUNDERCATS, HO!
Following sad news over the murder of Stephen Perry (who was the original writer of the 80’s cartoon), there is some great news coming out of Warner Bros. Warner Bros. Animation is currently on the fast track in producing a brand new ThunderCats animated series for Cartoon Network. What interesting will be the fact that WBA will be hookin’ up with Japanese animation studio, Studio4°C for the new series. Studio4°C is the studio that contributed to Animatrix, Batman Gotham Knights, and Halo Legends.
“We at Studio4°C are excited to be in this creative partnership with Warner Bros. Animation to bring ‘ThunderCats’ to life,” said Eiko Tanaka, President and CEO, Studio4°C. “This collaboration combines the strengths of our two companies – high production values and great storytelling – toward reintroducing this classic fan-favorite to a new audience.”
This is definitely going to be a new type of ThunderCats and most likely be a bit different from what we remember from our childhood. It may concern many that an “anime” version of ThunderCats may not be as good as the original, but if you are aware of the quality of animation coming out of Japan, you can bet that these ThunderCats will be kickin’ some major ass. I wonder when the SilverHawks will get their turn…
