I doubt even the Ghostbusters can understand the supernatural phenomenon that is “the Island” on Lost. As usual, Threadless is taking votes from fans on what design should be the next Threadless featured tee. Up for consideration this week is 22 year old graphic designer, Nacho Diaz (AKA Naolito) newest work, “Smokebusters”, which is a pretty amusing mash-up of the Ghostbusters and different key aspects from Lost such as “the black smoke” and the Dharma Initiative. You can vote for Naolito’s Smokebusters design below!

Couple weeks ago, Threadless’ monthly art contest to determine their new shirt design featured an incredibly cool TRON inspired shirt and hoodie by Rolf Nelson AKA martiandrivein. The “TRON shirt” features are really cool “glow in the dark” feature where the cool line graphics illuminate just like in the movie. Unfortunately, it seems the reality of seeing such a cool shirt being made is a bit slim considering the lack of support the shirt garnered during the contest. Regardless, I was completely sold when I saw that shirt considering that epic-ness of the new upcoming sequel. Cheers to you Rolf Nelson. You sir, are a winner in my book.

I love it, I love it, I LOVE IT! I love old school video games like Donkey Kong. I love Star Wars. Thanks to Threadless and Carlos Escarrega (AKA Yimbo), I might get the opportunity to enjoy both of those loves in one t-shirt. As usual, Threadless is asking its loyal fans about which illustration they wish to see on a shirt. Yimbos entry, “Return of the Bit” is a humorous mash up of the epic scene from Star Wars Return of the Jedi where Luke Skywalker and Han Solo is trying to save Princess Leia from the greasy grips of Jabba the Hutt with the iconic ladder and barrel tossin’ game of Donkey Kong. Yimbo illustrates a worm like Donkey Kong fashioned to look like Jabba with a less than sexy Leia in her slave outfit. Unfortunately, Leia looks like a guy with a pony tail rather than a hot princess in a bikini, but who cares! It’s a pretty funny shirt and I hope Yimbo gets the nod to have his great illustration graced on a shirt on Threadless.

Scooby Doo, where are you!? Killin’ and eating zombies of course…
Threadless has always been known to producing cool shirts by unknown artists and they continue this cool tradition by releasing a Scooby Doo parody shirt titled “We Got Some Work to Do Now” by Travis Pitt. Travis’ bitchin’ design features our favorite nerd Velma and Scooby draw with a hint of realisim. Apparently, these two are the sole survivors of the zombie apocalypse as Velma is decked out with a shotgun and machete to cut down any undead that she sees through her thick rimmed glasses. There is no sign of the rest of the gang so it is safe to say they had their crime solving brains sucked out of their skulls already.
Sticking with my favorite theme of heroic girls and injecting realism or plausibilty to silly pop culture icons, I knew I wanted to make a certain teen detective her canine companion into the sole survivors of a Monsterpocalypse…
If there was a zombie apocalypse, I would think Velma and Scooby would be good company to watch your back. Too bad Daphne didn’t make it. I would glady watch hers. Muahahaha…
Buy this bitchin’ shirt at Threadless for a meer 18 dollaroos.
