Oh yeah… I enjoy any ‘Avengers’ news regardless how small or pointless it is. On the other hand, as you may know, I don’t dare post set spy photos and reserve my site for officially released images. Well, thankfully Marvel has released images of a cool new banner that will be hanging in your local cinema. I do have to say that the concept is simple, but these are some rad lookin’ banners. Also, from the looks of it, we might be seeing each Avenger as it’s very own poster as well. My only complaint would have to be the way the characters are posed. Other than Captain America, why does it seem that the photographer was posing our beloved Avengers to pose while sticking their necks out? Seems a bit odd. What do I know… My favorite has to be Black Widow and Loki. They look sexy as hell.

I woke up extra early today to make sure I was awake when the first trailer for ‘The Avengers’ dropped this morning and I don’t regret it at all! All we’ve been able to see so far were couple shitty set spy photos and a tasty teaser at the end of ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’, but now, we have a clearer picture of what we can expect from The Avengers and I have to say that I’m fucking excited! The mix of characters and personalities in The Avengers is going to be dynamic and you can already see that between Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark and Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. Just from what I see from the trailer, it looks like Loki will be off the rails and will be a great villain for the newly assembled team. Also, from the looks of it, RDJ is the front man and will steal the show (but did you expect otherwise). While we would have loved to see more scenes showcasing heroes interacting with other heroes, we will just have to be patient and wait till May when the film comes out. Until then, just check out the trailer and make sure you have an extra set of underwear on hand.

kidthor

During Super Bowl weekend, we got to meet “Kid Vader” in the now classic, VW Passat x Star Wars commerical. Well, now with the release of ‘Thor’ just couple weeks away, the creative guys at Marvel released an epic video parody called “Little Thor”. Unlike Kid Vader who goes around the house trying to use the “Force”, Little Thor wields the “mite-ty” Thor’s hammer. Unlike Kid Vader who had the assistance of his parents to be able to successfully use his Force power, Little Thor can do it all by himself, like a big boy. Unfortunately, such godly powers in the hands of a little tyke can lead to bad situations. I don’t know about you, but as a die-hard Star Wars fan, I want to like Kid Vader more, but I can’t resist the power of Little Thor. Little Thor wins, hands down… or is it “hammer down”?

BTW, the child playing ‘Little Thor’ looks freakin’ god-like with his golden hair and vicious stare. Well done Marvel.

I’ve been talking about Chris Hemsworth’s manly pecs for quite some time now. At CinemaCon, Hemsworth spoke to Hero Complex about the daunting task of bulking up to play Thor.

I got the part and immediately started looking at the comic books, and the guy is 500 pounds or something and looks like Schwarzenegger. And I thought, ‘OK, I’m not gonna get to that.’ But I have to get bigger.

Hemsworth goes on to talk about how he bulked up so much that he actually didn’t fit into the Thor costume during the first fitting.

The filmmakers kept saying ‘Yeah, get as big as you can, as big as you can.’ And then I came back right before Christmas, just before we started the movie, and had a final sort of camera test and put the costume on and within a couple of minutes, my hands started going numb,” he recalled. “And everyone was like, ‘Yeah, that’s not cool.’ And I started getting pins and needles and you’d touch the skin and the blood wouldn’t return to that area so quick. And I thought, ‘OK, it doesn’t fit.’

Now that is dedication to the role! Putting on an insane amount of weight is not uncommon in Hollywood (look at ‘Christian Bale’ in ‘The Machinist’ and than ‘Batman Begins’), but I’m not sure if anyone went overboard and bulked up so much that they couldn’t fit into a costume that they got fitted for just few months before. I guess that’s the difference between being human and a Norse God. From what is being reported from CinemaCon, many movie bloggers are raving about the 20+ minutes of footage they saw of ‘Thor’. Apparently, the footage was so good that many are jumping on the Thor bandwagon. I wasn’t a believer, but had hopes. Now, I think I believe Thor indeed can be made into an entertaining and well done film. On that note, Chris Hemsworth is also being honored with the title of  “Male Star of Tomorrow” at CinemaCon.

Hit the jump and check out the video interview with Chris Hemsworth at CinemaCon with Hero Complex. Did you notice how the interviewer (Amy Kaufman) kind geeks out in front of Hemsworth? It seemed like she was about to pass out whenever Hemsworth was using words like bigger, thick, skin, size, big, etc. It was crackin’ me up!

Marvel is in high gear as there is a little over one month left before ‘Thor’ hits the big screen. This will be Marvel’s next big epic and only time will tell whether they have a blockbuster on their hands like ‘Iron Man’ or a hot mess like ‘Elektra’. However, it must be pleasing to Marvel to hear all the positive feedback from sites like /film and Collider after they got a small viewing during CinemaCon. After hearing about how awesome the movie, I can’t wait. I wasn’t a believer when Thor was announced, but now I am. With Marvel’s final push, we get two new Thor television spots that feature couple new scenes that we didn’t see in the theatrical trailer. The only thing I really didn’t like was the trailer narrator. That shit was pretty corny and lame.

Hit the jump and check out both Thor TV spots!

hawkeye

When the line-up for ‘The Avengers’ was first announced back in the summer of 2010, the only character that people really weren’t familiar with was Clint Barton AKA Hawkeye. Most of the members like Iron Man and Captain America are familiar characters to the general public who don’t follow the comics and I always thought Hawkeye was bound to show up before the Avengers’ release. Well, now it has been confirmed by multiple sources that Hawkeye will indeed show up in ‘Thor’. Spotted at Cinema Con, Jeremy Renner (who is playing Hawkeye) will be appearing in Thor, but it isn’t going to be your regular small cameo. Hawkeye will be featured alongside S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson (played by Clark Gregg) with his signature weapon of choice, bow and arrow. Hawkeye apparently has couple speaking lines and we will get more than a “glimpse”. I find it to be a smart move to introduce to the Marvel movie fans to a new character who will be playing a larger role in The Avengers. Hawkeye isn’t the most well-known characters in the Marvel universe, but he is still a bad ass. I wonder what Hawkeye’s costume looked like… I hope its delightfully purple.

Now I’m pretty excited. After checking out the first trailer for ‘Thor’, I was a bit worried whether the movie is going to be any good. It seemed a bit slow paced (from what I can tell), and compared to the action packed trailers of ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’ and ‘X-Men: First Class’, it seemed a bit tame. Well, last night, Marvel released the second official trailer for Thor and it is amazing. We finally get to see the baddies in action like Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston) and the Destroyer. I can’t help, but be awe struck with the crazy God-action going on in this trailer. If it wasn’t for Kat Denning’s showing her face in the trailer, the trailer would have been spectacular. Also, the second Thor trailer did not fail to show Chris Hemsworth without his shirt. Damn him and his impressive pecs!
