I will be honest. ‘Smallville’ has not been on my radar or on my “must-watch-TV” list for years. Well, in its final season, it looks like fans will get some nice teases. In an episode titled, “Masquerade” (airing Feb. 18th, 2011), Lois (played by the voluptuous, Erica Durance) suggests that Clark be careful with his identity and should wear a disguise. Apparently, this leads to a fancy crimson red leather jacket with the “Superman” logo. Mind you, that this fashion consultation and wardrobe change all takes place while Chloe (played by Allison Mack) is being “tortured” by some baddie name “Desaad” (I’m sorry. Like I said before, its been a while I watched an episode. I have no idea who these guys are…). Regardless, I think the jacket looks pretty clean and snazzy. Not so over the top and very subtle. I still won’t watch Smallville though.

Update 02/03/2011: I’m hearing from multiple parties that this “costume” was revealed earlier in the season. Unfortunately, as I mentioned before, I do not watch the show, so it was a bit difficult to catch this. Regardless, its news to me and I can’t do anything but blame the two sources that reported it as “new”. Go figure. The internet duped me.

I cannot believe that stuff like this is still finding its way into the light. Gawd, I LOVE IT! A while back, there was a photograph that leaked of actor Nicholas Cage, in what appears to be a conceptual test suit of  director, Tim Burton’s vision of Superman. Well, after all this time, a video is leaked of another suit that was being developed for the now dead ‘Superman Lives‘ project. In the video, what we see (speculated) is a “regeneration” suit that Kal-El uses to heal himself after a near death brush with Doomsday. Many are calling this the “Eradicator” suit and by the looks of it, I can make the connection. Everything from neon lights to reflective material is featured on the suit. From the look of the face on the model, it looks like it was made for Cage. Keep in mind that these were tests so we do not know exactly what the end product would have looked like, but I can assure you that there would have been no faux nipple action on these suits. With ‘Superman Live’s dead and a distant memory, it is fun to be able to laugh and dream about what a Burton-style Superman could have been.

Before Bryan Singer was signed onto Superman Returns, Tim Burton and Kevin Smith was originally signed on to direct and pen Superman Lives. Probably, due to the insane obsure vision of Tim Burton, the script and team was canned by Warner Bros. Along with script went Nicolas Cage, who was reported to have been cast at Superman. After a decade, we finally get a glimpse of what Superman Lives may have been and it is not pretty. Photos are leaked of Nic Cage in a screen test donning a horrific Superman costume. From the looks of the picture, Nic Cage apparently had to get himself wasted to gain enough courage to wear the outfit. We don’t know if this photo is legit or photoshop tom-foolery, but it kind of makes you wonder whether Superman Lives could have been better than Superman Returns. It is safe to assume that the costume in the photo wasn’t the final product, but that photo is giving me the freakin’ heebie jeebies. Hit the jump to see more conceptual art from Superman Lives.
