Do you dream about the Dark Side? I do. I dream about it all the time. That is probably the only time I can get a good night rest. While my dream includes punching Ewoks in the face and using the Death Star to blow up Endor, photographer Marie-Louise Cadosch has a different dream in mind. In this photograph collection titled “Dream of the Dark Side”, the photos follows the dream of a girl (modeled by Maura Waller) who happens to be a flesh-colored Twi’leek (which is freakin’ me out a bit) flirting with Darth Vader. Unfortunately, Vader is not amused and one confused Stormtrooper finds out what happens to people that try to seduce the Sith Lord. Twi’leeks dont get much of a break in the Star Wars universe do they?

troopers

I feel like I really dropped the ball when I didn’t know about CollegeHumor’s original web series, ‘Troopers’ until last night. Troopers follows the tale of two “Stormtrooper-like” soldiers and their life on a “Death Star-like” space station in a “Star Wars-like” universe. Get it? Unfortunately, you don’t have to be too bright to work to be a Trooper. The job of holding and interrogating a Princess who is leading the rebellion is left to the same hands that deliver the coffee and pastries in the morning. Troopers almost reminds me of the hilarious back and forth banter that we came to enjoy from ‘Red Vs Blue’ from Rooster Teeth. What makes this series even better is that the loveable and witty Aubrey Plaza (Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World, Parks and Recreations) stars in the series as the Princess. So far, there has been four episode released by CollegeHumor titled, “Forcefield”, “Mind Trick”, “Coffee Run”, and “Interrogation”. If you are a die-hard ‘Star Wars’ fan, you will definitely find some enjoyment from this series.

imperialpropaganda

Propaganda posters to entice people to join the “Imperial Forces”? I’m down. Pittsburgh, PA. resident, Jeff Confer (known as jpc-art on DeviantArt) has done some amazing ‘Star Wars’ illustrations over the years. His impressive work were even featured on the “Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back 30th Anniversary” sketch cards by TOPPS. Well, maybe that’s why I was so excited when I ran across these on DA. Jeff’s amazing vector work depicts various different types of troopers within the “Imperial Forces” such as Stormtroopers, Snowtroopers, Scout Troopers, and Imperial Guards. His color selection and clean lines really makes these illustrations special.  I find it quite awesome that there’s even a propaganda poster paying tribute to Ralph McQuarrie (see second picture below). Of course, you cannot have a propaganda poster series without Darth Vader. Darth Vader is is featured with his lightsaber drawn and fist held high demanding people to join or die. I figure joining and taking my chances against some Rebels is a better option that getting “force choked” by the Sith Lord.

scatteredtrees

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, the boys of Scattered Trees capture a princess. Unfortunately, one of them falls in love.

The Scattered Trees‘ music video for their song, “Love and Leave” follows the story of a Stormtrooper who falls in love with his prisoner, Queen Amidala. Being torn between doing his job and being with her, the Stormtrooper leans towards love and frees Amidala. They embrace and kiss and than it is followed by Amidala putting a lightsaber through the Stormtrooper’s gut. On top of that, Amidala goes out and “Force Chokes” some Stormtroopers and Boba Fett to death. After killing her kidnappers, Amidala teleports out of the kidnapper’s hideout to safety. That was pretty confusing. I didn’t really follow the lyrics much considering the song was a bit “emo” for my taste. However, I did find the visuals appealing. As much as I love the quality of the Star Wars cosplay, I REALLY need to ask. How does Amidala use the “Force” and who “beamed her up”. I really wonder if ‘The Scattered Trees’ or director J.M. Harper are real Star Wars fans or not. Was Boba Fett and Stormtroopers randomly thrown into this video just to garner the attention of Star Wars fans into listening to their music? Regardless, they have suckered me into writing about it and showing the video. As much as I love Star Wars, this music video and song was a real turn-off. BAH!

201004steampunktrooper

This is most likely old news, but I’ve been out due to surgery so I’m just catchin’ up on all the Star Wars goodies. Unlike most Star Wars fanatics like myself, instead of just owning a replica Stormtrooper helment, Brian Rood designed/customized a Stormtrooper helmet with a steampunk twist. Everything from cogs to random rivets and bolts are exposed in this insane custom. This isn’t Brian’s first attempt at steampunkin’ Star Wars helmets. His steampunktrooper helmets has created quite the buzz in the Star Wars community and even though many have offered to purchase Brian’s creations, they aren’t for sale. However, don’t think your dream of getting your own helmet is impossible. Brian is planning to create and sell his wicked creations in the near future. The steam punk stormtrooper helmet above was created specifically for TK Project, which is a charity event held by the 501st Legion for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Stormtroopers are such a generous bunch of fellas!

I love Star Wars merchandise. Especially Star Wars merchandise that is a mashed up with something that is iconic. One of the most iconic brands would have to be Adidas. Next year, Adidas will be releasing Star Wars themed shoes and apparel. Everything from snazzy kicks, t-shirts, and hoodies. The clothing is designed based on different signature aspects of Darth Vader, Han Solo, and the ever-so loyal Imperial Stormtroopers! Hopefully, there will be some retro-style track jackets in the future. I do love track jackets. Will I dare wear any of these cool clothes and get them dirty? HELL NO! Remember kids… even clothes can be collectible. Expect Adidas to release these in the first quarter of 2010. Hit the jump to check out a small glimpse into the Star Wars x Adidas collection.
