“Stay on target!”

Who knew LEGO’s could take you’re breath away. Thanks to my Twitter buddy, @Zombologist, I had the opportunity to come upon of the greatest Star Wars LEGO diorama I have ever seen. Titled, “Rebel Attack!”, flickr community member, roguebantha_1138 too upon the EPIC challenge of creating a diorama with LEGOs depicting a battle between the Imperial and Rebel Scum Forces. Heres a small summary by roguebantha_1138 regarding his or her creation.

Welcome to Mustaneer! (it’s not as distant as Mustafar) Basically it’s a Rebel attack on an Imperial base and mining installation. About a year in the making, on and off, it is 75 by 125cm and all built in 1:200 scale. …so if you have a bit of spare time join me on a journey to a galaxy far far away….

You might be wondering what a “kokeshi” is. Kokeshi is a Japanese wooden doll originating from Northern Japan. They are handmade from wood, have a simple trunk and an enlarged head with a few thin, painted lines to define the face. “temple7e” on Etsy (an online community where you can buy and sell handmade goods) has taken the traditional kokeshi doll and put a delightful geek twist to it.

Featured on temple73’s Etsy page is a collection of kokeshi dolls titled, “The Kokeshi Clan”. It seems that temple7e is a sci-fi geek considering some of her kokeshi designs are modeled after Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, and Star Trek.

Each of these dolls are quiet adorable and are carefully hand-painted. You can get these little geek kokeshi dolls for about 20 to 30 bucks each on temple7e’s site. Hit the jump to see some of the other dolls!

I’m not sure what San Francisco did to bring upon the mighty fist of the Imperial forces on itself, but whatever it was, stop. Did San Francisco forget about a little place called “Alderaan”?

Indie filmaker and sci-fi fan, Mike Horn created a series of stunning photographs (part of his “Star Wars West Coast Defense” collection) of what San Francisco may look like if it was occupied by the Imperial army. San Francisco landmarks such as the Bay Bridge and Golden Gate Bridge is featured with Stormtroopers, Biker Scouts, AT-ATs, and even the Death Star. Mike Horn was also the creator of popular “Death Star Over San Francisco” and “Death Star Destroys the USS Enterprise” fan videos. Hit the jump to see more of his brilliant photographs and videos!

20090819yodadodgers

Over the last 2 seasons, The Los Angeles Dodgers have been putting billboards around the city for thier “This is My Town” marketing campaign featuring Los Angeles resident celebritries such as Kim Kardashian (reality TV star), Tara Lipinski (American figure skating gold medalist), Rob Dyrdek (professional skateboarder/reality TV star), and many others. The latest “celebrity” to get the “This is My Town” treatment is Jedi Master Yoda from Star Wars. Along with the statement, “My Town, This Is”, Yoda is shown battle ready with his signature green lightsaber ready to cut down any Sith Lord (or in this case, division rivals).

I love both Star Wars and the Dodgers, but I have to ask… shouldn’t Yoda have a blue lightsaber to represent “Dodger Blue”? Regardless, the Dodgers are leading in the West so the billboards must be helping. Go DODGERS!

I’m a sucker for any collectible that is related to ‘Star Wars’ and these chopsticks make me want to go for my wallet. World renowned Japanese figure designer and producers, Kotobukiya presents Star Wars “Chopsabers”. The unique chopsticks are fashioned to look like every Jedi’s weapon of choice, the lightsaber. Kotobukiya is planning to release 3 chopsabers in 2010, starting with Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker adult size chopsabers (about 10 inches long) and a Yoda chopsaber for the tykes (about 8 inches long). Each of these chopsabers comes with a special chopstick stand with the Star Wars logo.
