Deep into it’s tenth season, ‘Smallville’ will be coming to an end very soon. Everyone is wondering what is in store for the series finale and whether Clark Kent (played by Tom Welling) will be donning the red cape before the series wraps up. Well, based on a trailer released by EW, we just might. Titled “Believe”, the short trailer features John Williams’ classic score, “The Planet Krypton”  from the original ‘Superman’ movie. The words “Believe” and the Superman shield eclipses planet Earth with Clark saying “I finally know who I am”. Maybe the series creator has big plans to show that in Smallville, “you will believe a man can fly”

Couple days ago, it was announced that Booster Gold and Blue Beetle will be appearing in the 18th episode of the last season of ‘Smallville’. ‘Days of Our Lives’ star Eric Martsolf (@ericmartsolf) is set to star as Booster Gold while Jaren Grandt Bartlett will play the Blue Beetle. The episode will be written by Geoff Johns (@GeoffJohns0) and directed by Tom Welling (who plays Clark Kent/Superman on the show).

Eric Martsolf on playing Booster Gold:

The episode takes place in Booster’s very early stages where he’s at his conceited best, where he believes he can do whatever he wants. He’s gonna stay for the photo op and bask in the glory of his heroic efforts. [Beetle] wants to stand in the back and not be a glory hound, they are completely opposites of one another.

DC Comics’ Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns on the script:

The one thing Booster does prove to Clark is that people want to look up to this guy. They want to be inspired, and no one’s doing it for them. This guy always shows up at the last second to make a dramatic rescue, which is really suspect… Sometimes you laugh with Booster, sometimes you laugh at him.

This is the first time the scarab comes on to Jaime [Reyes], so it creates a bulkier, more dangerous armor. Ultimately he’ll gain more control over the scarab and it will become more friendly looking.

I have found this last season of Smallville to be cornier and cheesier than ever, but I am intrigued about the appearance of Booster Gold and Blue Beetle. It think I’m going to have to check it out.

‘Smallville’ is in a mad rush to squeeze as many new characters into the final season as possible. During last weeks episode (I actually watched it… go figure…), we find out that Lex Luthor clone (yeah… clones…), Alexander (played by Lucas Gabreel0) has some similar “traits” that you find with Clark Kent. When the needle of a syringe failed to puncture Alexander’s skin, it was obvious that he was not an actual Lex Clone. Well, it is reported that Smallville will reveal that the psycho bastard Alexander Luthor actually is Kon-El AKA Conner Kent. An as you may already know, Conner Kent is Kryptonian/human hybrid clone of Superman and Lex Luthor. Later, Conner becomes Superboy in the DC Universe. Well, from the picture released earlier this week, it looks like Conner will be busting out the black shirt with iron-on logo very soon. Damn, Smallville is so confusing…

I will be honest. ‘Smallville’ has not been on my radar or on my “must-watch-TV” list for years. Well, in its final season, it looks like fans will get some nice teases. In an episode titled, “Masquerade” (airing Feb. 18th, 2011), Lois (played by the voluptuous, Erica Durance) suggests that Clark be careful with his identity and should wear a disguise. Apparently, this leads to a fancy crimson red leather jacket with the “Superman” logo. Mind you, that this fashion consultation and wardrobe change all takes place while Chloe (played by Allison Mack) is being “tortured” by some baddie name “Desaad” (I’m sorry. Like I said before, its been a while I watched an episode. I have no idea who these guys are…). Regardless, I think the jacket looks pretty clean and snazzy. Not so over the top and very subtle. I still won’t watch Smallville though.

Update 02/03/2011: I’m hearing from multiple parties that this “costume” was revealed earlier in the season. Unfortunately, as I mentioned before, I do not watch the show, so it was a bit difficult to catch this. Regardless, its news to me and I can’t do anything but blame the two sources that reported it as “new”. Go figure. The internet duped me.

Good gawd… I haven’t watched Smallville in a couple years now (since the whole Lana marries Lex fiasco), and I’m not sure I’m ready to jump into Smallville once again. Even with the introduction of Justice Society of America. As many of you know, Hawkman will be dropping into Kansas next year for a two episode story arc called “Absolute Justice”. The earlier glimpse into the costume shows that unlike the majority of Smallville’s renditions of the DC Universe heroes and villains, Smallville’s Hawkman will be staying pretty close to his comic counterpart. Apparently, more will be joining Hawkman in Kansas in the upcoming episode. Alongside Hawkman will be Dr. Fate and Stargirl. Based on the “first look” images from Splashpage, Dr. Fate and Stargirl are pretty close to what they look like in the comics. They also look like they belong on the Power Rangers. Will I be sacrificing a hour of my life to check out “Absolute Justice”? HELL YES I will. Not because I have hopes that it will be great or anything. I just like seeing people in rubber suits makin’ an ass out of themselves.
