IGN has announced that Jagex Game Studio and Hasbro has hooked up to produce a massively multiplayer online game (AKA MMO) for ‘Transformers’. Based on the press release, “iconic Autobots and Decepticons set to battle online in 2012″, Jagex and Hasbro looks to be rushing this game out for next year. I am not sure how well that is going to work out considering MMO can take years to perfect. At the same time, Jagex is known for browser based games, so this might not be a huge MMO that we come to love like ‘World of Warcraft’. This might be nothing more than ‘Farmville’ with Transformers. I’m not sure how appealing it would be to have a Transformers MMO browser based game. It would be too simple and I doubt the action would be that spectacular in-game. I guess, we will have to just wait and see what it is.
Tip: As the title suggests, if you do end up playing this game and Arcee winks at you and throws out a bunch of emotes, its probably some guy.

Since E3 earlier this year, one of the most anticipated MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role playing game) games for 2010 is Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIV. At the recent Tokyo Game Show 2009, Square Enix gives us a glimpse into the world of Eorzea and its unique and exotic inhabitants. We get to see a little more of the different races of Eorzea including Elezen (advanced Elvaan), Lalafell (advanced Taru Taru), Hyur (advanced Hume), Roegadyn (advanced Galka), and Miqo’te (advanced Mithra). Square Enix has always been recognized for their elegant storytelling and outstanding music and it continues on even stronger in FFXIV. This is a game that I will DEFINITELY be playing once released. Hopefully I can weasel myself into either the open or closed beta testing. DIE CACTUAR! DIE!

Brilliant lyrics from the ever so lovely, Ms. Felicia Day of The Guild and Dr. Horrible. The Guild is a web sitcom about a group of gamers. This highly acclaimed web series features the “Knights of Good” which is comprised of a cleric named Codex (Felicia Day), a warlock named Zaboo (Sandeep Parikh), Vork the fighter (Jeff Lewis), the rogue Bladezz (Vincent Caso), the ranger Tinkerballa (Amy Okuda), and lastly Clara the mage (Robin Thorsen). During a video interview by Famitsu, Square Enix revealed some tasty details regarding the new game play for Square Enix’s upcoming new MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game), Final Fantasy XIV.
FFXIV producer, Hiromichi Tanaka revealed during the interview that FFXIV will feature a unique “no experience points, no leveling” system. Director Nobuaki Komoto said “”people who may never have tried an online game before have the freedom to try many different things and tackle any number of quests and grow naturally from their experiences… That’s our priority: players enjoying the process of character growth.”
Considering that Square Enix’s previous MMORPG, Final Fantasy XI was heavily criticized by gamers that the leveling was too grueling and the feat of finding “parties” to gain experience points was too time consuming, it seems that Square Enix has taken strides to fix those issues in FFXIV.
