Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. This is exciting! THR has just broke news that Marvel StudiosGuardians of the Galaxy camp  just added another star to their already impressive ensemble. This time, ex-Doctor Who companion and ginger bombshell, Karen Gillan has been cast as an villain for the film. Gillan will be joining Lee Pace and Michael Rooker as the villains in the film. Gillan’s character has not been revealed yet, but rumors is that she will be playing an main alien baddie. I think it is safe to say that every geek boy and girl is very excited about this news. I sure am! Which villain do you think that Gillan will be playing?

Directed by James Gunn, Karen Gillan joins Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Glenn Close, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, and John C. Reilly. Guardians of the Galaxy drops on August 1, 2014

It looks like the X-Men camp is rockin’ the boat. After confirmation that Joss Whedon is plugging in Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch into The Avengers 2, it was announced via Twitter today by Bryan Singer that he has cast American Horror Story breakout star, Evan Peters as Pietro Maximoff AKA Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of the Future Past. It was already noted that Quicksilver and his sister can both exist in Marvel Studios‘ Marvel Cinematic Universe and 20th Century Fox‘s X-Men franchise. It is quite interesting that while Days of the Future Past is deep into preproduction, Bryan Singer has decided to plug the speedster into the film. Does it have anything to do with Whedon’s confirmation of Quicksilver’s part in Avengers 2? Who knows? Maybe Fox is making an attempt into riding the Avengers tidal wave of money. So, here’s what we know:

  • Marvel Studio can use Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in their films as members of the Avengers BUT with no reference to their mutant origins or the X-Men
  • 20th Century Fox can use Quick Silver and Scarlet Witch in the X-Men films BUT with no reference to their affiliation with The Avengers.

It’s all pretty silly, isn’t it? It’s even funnier that Bryan Singer already made the mistake of associating his Quicksilver with The Avengers on Twitter (which he deleted).

Remember that crazy “Star Wars Filibuster” by Patton Oswald on Parks and Recreation? Well, as incredibly epic as that was, it’s even BETTER animated thanks to Issac Moore! I said this before and I’ll say it again. I would still pay to watch Oswald’s vision for Star Wars: Episode VII.

I really love it when artists are able to draw inspiration from something and create something really cool. Designer/illustrator, Kelsey Michele created these awesome illustrations of gowns inspired by The Avengers. I love how clean the designs are and that they aren’t very “costumey”. I would think it would be cool to see some of these designs in real life. Great work Kelsey!

You can check out more of Kelsey’s work at her DeviantArt page.
