I love it when people take LEGO fandom to the next level. Poster designers, OldRedJalopy created a pretty impressive collection of posters featuring the 2011 Oscar “Best Picture” nominated films with a LEGO twist. Each nominated film’s respective posters such as ‘Black Swan’, ‘Inception’, and ‘The King’s Speech’ are recreated integrating “LEGO people” in place of the human actors. I especially love the work done on Danny Boyle’s  ‘127′ hours as it features an 8-bit style background featuring a LEGO cliff side. Unfortunately, unlike Aron Ralston (played brilliantly by James Franco) who cut his hand off to escape, LEGO Aron would only have to unplug his hand.

Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads…

I find a Delorean Time Machine made of LEGOs to be quiet awesome. Based on the Delorean Time Machine from ‘Back to the Future II’ (the best of the three Deloreans in my opinion), Randy Sabourin of Gatineau, QC, Canada put together this Delorean with only LEGOs. It’s pretty awesome because just by looking at it, you would think this Delorean was something that wasn’t fan-made, but a kit you can buy at the toy store. I love the attention to detail from the license plate and Mr. Fusion Home Energy Reactor on the back to power the time machine. I really wish I could own this little Delorean, but knowing me, I’ll probably destroy it accidently from excitement.

Ben Fleskes of bigbenbricks.com is a brilliant designer/sculptor of making insanely difficult things out of LEGO blocks. This time, Ben created this amazing 80’s style Pac-Man arcade machine made out of LEGO blocks. Standing at 34 inches, this Pac-Man arcade machine is fully functional! Outside of the electronics, joy stick controls, speakers, and the Jamma 48-1 board that allows the player to play classic games such as retro games of the yesteryears such as Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Space Invaders, everything on this arcade machine is pure LEGOs. What’s even more awesome is the fact that Ben didn’t cut down or alter a single block of LEGO to fit his design. I really dig the detailed work on the Pac-Man graphics done in LEGO on the side of the cabinet and the face plate on the top of the machine. It’s freakin’ brilliant!

Someone at Lego is smokin’ crack. Lego and Atlantis Resorts in the Bahamas has announced the opening of  the world’s first Lego Atlantis fantasy summer camp. Yes… I said a summer camp based on Legos. Opened by Frankie Jonas (one of the unknown younger spawns of the Jonas Brothers clan) and a life-sized sculpture of an Lego Atlantis Navigational SCUBA Explorer (L.A.N.S.E) scuba diver figure along with some random seal, Atlantis resorts revealed an 8000 square foot club named “Atlantis Kids’ Adventures” (A.K.A.) located on Paradise Island. Along with the opening of A.K.A., Atlantis resorts announced plans for a Lego summer camp available to vacationing families during the summer.

AKA uses cutting-edge technology to inspire kids’ imagination, offering everything from interactive touch-screen walls, tables and floors, and eight rooms that include Arts & Crafts room, The EVERY video game ever invented room; Wizardology reading room, a Culinary Kitchen and a performance area that features a green screen, a full-sized stage and dressing room, complete with costumes, and a LEGO Construction Zone, among other experiences.

Sadly, while the Lego summer camp was created to promote family activities, it will just serve as a venue where parents will dump their children while they going boozin’ at the local bar. Regardless, this new venture looks like a great financial and marketing move on the part of Lego considering the HUGE success of LegoLand. Oh… wait… Legoland blows and it’s terrible.  Wha… wha… wha… whhhhaaaaaaa…

It seems like there is nothing you can’t do with LEGOs. MOCpages (a fan-created LEGO user group site) member, Rag naRock is an avid fan of Metal Gear Solid, LEGOs, and mecha. These three loves gave birth to two mighty fine new LEGO creations. From Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot, Rag naRock created a Metal Gear REX and Metal Gear GEKKO robots all from LEGOs. MG GEKKO and MG REX were bio-mechanical fighting vehicle that were designed for combat by DARPA and ArmsTech Inc in the MSG video game series. Considering how bad ass REX and GEKKOS looks, you can really see that Rag naRock invested a lot of time and effort into making these designs. Fortuantely, Rag naRock is kind enough to share his building instructions as well. I’m seriously diggin’ the REX. I wonder if LEGO Snake would shit his pants after seeing these monsters of war.

In an attempt to fit “geek” into every part of our daily life, LEGO created some really bitchin’ kitchenware that is sure to be a hit with any fan LEGOs. Everything from LEGO salt and pepper shakers to LEGO ice brick trays. Theres even a LEGO rolling cookie cutter. These LEGO kitchen products were designed and created to function perfectly to fit your cooking/backing needs. Thats good to hear considering my attempt to bake a batch of brownies on a homemade LEGO baking tin didn’t end so well. The brownies were delicious, but the fire department wasn’t too happy. Go figure…

I always love it when LEGO fans makes scenes from movies and comics. Usually, you see a ton of custom LEGO Star Wars or Star Trek scenes, but Brickshelf (a custom LEGO gallery/website) member, “rebelrock” decided to take it back to 1965 and created a scene from Frank Herbert’s Dune.

The design is a bit plain, but it works brilliantly. “Rebelrock” features 3 unsuspected travelers in the desert facing the wrath of Shai-Hulud, or commonly known as “the sandworm”. Hit the jump to check out more photos of “rebelrock”’s work!
