Oh man. Somebody fucked up didn’t they? TheOneRing got their little Hobbit hands on some leaked preliminary box art for LEGO’s newly announced ‘Lord of the Rings’ LEGO play sets. From the looks of the grainy photos, I’m all all down for these awesome LEGO sets. I do wonder what size the Hobbit LEGOs will be compared to regular LEGO characters. Hopefully its to scale. Look out of these Lord of the Rings LEGOs to be available in your local toy stores in Summer 2012.

I have to admit that when I first came across Jay Hoff’s amazing ‘Star Wars’ LEGO diorama of Emperor Palpatine arriving in the Death Star, I kind of screamed and than teared up a bit. It is THAT beautiful! Jay created this amazing diorama using over 30,000 LEGO blocks and characters and was created for “Science Discovery Day” at Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa, Florida. I’m not sure exactly what this diorama has to do with science or discovery, but I’m not complaining. I have to ask one thing though. Who’s going to close the hanger doors? I’m not sure if Darth Vader is going to be pleased to know that majority of his Imperial forces is floating out in space.

Holy crap this is so freaking awesome. Some awesome bastard created a stop-motion flick that retells the whole ‘Star Wars’ original trilogy story (A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi, in LEGO form in two minutes. Whats makes this fan-made film so awesome has to be three things. First, the pace is quick and straight to the point. Even though about six hours was condensed down to two minutes, the most important parts are included. Second, the narration was hilarious. I don’t know who the kid was that did the narration, but someone get him a job! Third, the iconic music of Star Wars redone on an electric guitar was a nice touch. I definitely enjoyed the nice rifts they got going in the beginning and ending. Now, stop reading and hit the jump and enjoy this awesome fan-made stop motion Star Wars film!

I’ll be honest. I’ve been kind of getting tired of all the new ‘Doctor Who’ toys coming out lately. Most of them have been “TARDIS (fill in the blank” type of merchandise ranging from cookie jars to USB hubs. Don’t get me wrong. I own those wonderful goods, but I was hoping for a while that something new and exciting would hit the market that would knock my socks off. Well, Underground Toys was the company to do it. Presenting, the “Doctor Who Building Dalek Progenitor Room Mini Set” (that’s a mouth full…)!
Join the Doctor on the Dalek Spaceship where five powerful Daleks have emerged from the Progenitor Chamber. They have disintegrated the older “inferior” models and are now ready to destroy Earth! Help the Doctor save the day and finally defeat his oldest enemy! Highly detailed Dalek construction playset including a Dalek: The Supreme micro-figure.
This awesome Doctor Who construction toy features the ultra-dapper “Eleventh Doctor” (Matt Smith) is a Lego-like form alongside a menacing white Dalek. Whats the best part of the toy is that it is compatible with any Lego set so the possibilities are endless. As a Time Lord and with the power of the TARDIS, the Doctor should have no problem fitting into any of the awesome themed Lego playsets. I would think anything with knights and castles would be the best. What do you think? Hopefully, they would make more including a TARDIS and Amy Pond. Oh, I would love an Amy Pond Lego (like) figure very much.
The “Doctor Who Building Dalek Progenitor Room Mini Set” will be out in July and will go for about $18.99!

I have to tip my hat to Chris Doyle for going above and beyond by creating a very cool Lego model of the Serenity from Joss Whedon’s short-lived, but popular sci-fi series, ‘Firefly’. Instead of most Lego customizers who just build a close replica, Chris decided to take the extra step and incorporate some light-up features into the ship. With a hand full of battery powered Lego brick lights, Chris incorporated these lights into the cockpit, various common rooms such as the kitchen, and in the back around the engine near the “Firefly Drive”. I do love the color variation of the different lights as Chris used colored gels and clear bricks to give each light it’s own personality. This impressive Lego Serenity features a total of twenty different lights which makes this vessels quite unique and special.

I love it when people take LEGO fandom to the next level. Poster designers, OldRedJalopy created a pretty impressive collection of posters featuring the 2011 Oscar “Best Picture” nominated films with a LEGO twist. Each nominated film’s respective posters such as ‘Black Swan’, ‘Inception’, and ‘The King’s Speech’ are recreated integrating “LEGO people” in place of the human actors. I especially love the work done on Danny Boyle’s ‘127′ hours as it features an 8-bit style background featuring a LEGO cliff side. Unfortunately, unlike Aron Ralston (played brilliantly by James Franco) who cut his hand off to escape, LEGO Aron would only have to unplug his hand.

Roads? Where we’re going, we don’t need roads…
I find a Delorean Time Machine made of LEGOs to be quiet awesome. Based on the Delorean Time Machine from ‘Back to the Future II’ (the best of the three Deloreans in my opinion), Randy Sabourin of Gatineau, QC, Canada put together this Delorean with only LEGOs. It’s pretty awesome because just by looking at it, you would think this Delorean was something that wasn’t fan-made, but a kit you can buy at the toy store. I love the attention to detail from the license plate and Mr. Fusion Home Energy Reactor on the back to power the time machine. I really wish I could own this little Delorean, but knowing me, I’ll probably destroy it accidently from excitement.
