A lot of you are probably familiar with “The Amazing Brand0″ who are well known for their witty songs and music video based on old Nintendo video games. Well, they’re back with an epic melody to ‘The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past”. The Amazing Brand0 creates their unique mix of music combining the a little hip-hop with something that oddly sounds like a 80’s power ballad. It must be tough to be Link as he is probably the hardest workin’ elf in video games, especially when he’s not wearing any pants. At least Link is confident in the size of his… sword. The Amazing Brand0 has titled this song as “episode one” so lets hope that they continue on and create more songs about the pants-less adventures of Link.

EAT YOUR HEART OUT BLUE MAN GROUP! Meet Kent AKA snubbyj who has been wowin’ YouTuber with his amazing covers of pop songs with the use of a homemade PVC pipe instrument. Inspired by Blue Man Group, Kent went on to build his own and started posting videos online. My favorite of his collection of videos has to be his performance of various songs from ‘Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’. In the beginning of the performance, Kent is plays his own rendition of Kokiri Forest, Kaepora Gaebora, Saria’s Song/Lost Woods, Windmill/Song of Storms, Market, Shooting Gallery, Zelda’s Lullaby, and Sheik’s Theme. Later into the video, a second Kent jumps in a the performance goes into high gear with Gerudo Valley and the Legend of Zelda theme song. What pretty cool is that Kent doesn’t have a twin and with a little video editing, he was able to produce an extra set of hands to create even a more dynamic sound. Whats kind creepy is the fact that the second Kent (in red) keeps are staring at the camera and at the other Kent (in blue). It’s almost like hes trying to tell us, “yeah, THAT just happened”. I don’t know about you, but now I’m a huge fan of snubbyj.

She is sooooo cute! Tessa Violet (@meekakitty) is the girl behind the “Star Trek Girl” song and music video from a while back. Well, she is back with a new song called “Navi’s Song (Hey, Listen!)” inspired by Navi from ‘Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’. Its a sad tale of a girl (Navi) who is stuck being in love with a douche (Link) who doesn’t appreciate what he already has and goes around where ever his “sword” leads him. Unfortunately, unlike Link, Navi has a difficult time forgetting what they had together. Considering Navi is considered one of the most annoying characters ever, it is hard to be annoyed by Tessa. I find her to be adorable and quite cute! She kind of makes me want to punch Link in the gut once for the emotional distress hes putting Navi through. The music video is not cheesy and jam packed with hideous cosplay. It’s subtle, original, but well thought out. It’s also very hard to hate a video that was shot in locations around Los Angeles like Little Tokyo. I also find it a bit funny that Navi is the only other character in Zelda (besides Link in ‘Wind Waker’) that speaks any English. And yes, “listen” is one of those words.

Los Angeles based illustrator, Reza Rasoli AKA rezatron (@rezatron) like to doodle zombies in his spare time. Reza takes some of our favorite pop culture iconic characters like Link from ‘Legend of Zelda’ and Marty from ‘Back to the Future’ and puts a nasty zombie spin on each one. While most “zombie” illustrations are gross and hideous, I find Reza’s zombies to be humorous and whimsical. There is something very endearing behind the blood and gore. You can see Reza’s various work on his website.

Fair warning. This shit will give you an erection as long as the picture. I’m dead serious. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of ‘The Legend of Zelda’, pixiv (a Japanese online community for artists similar to DeviantArt) member, “Ag+” created an amazing Zelda illustration that many consider the greatest Zelda art piece ever. Ag+’s use to colors and attention to detail is pretty mind-blowing in my opinion. The amount of characters featured in this piece is insane as well. I would have to agree with fans that this is the greatest of all time and it will be near impossible for someone to beat this. Whats even cooler is Ag+ posted a video of himself working on this Zelda painting from start to finish. It’s is a pretty incredible video to watch. I can go on and on about how cool this picture is, but I should just let you see it and listen for the sound that you jaw makes when it hits the floor.

This cracks me up. The group behind ‘Inglourious Plummers‘ and ‘God of War Indie Movie Trailer‘ just released their newest creation ‘The Legend of Zelda (1987) Trailer’. Basically, what would it be like if a Legend of Zelda movie was created by a director like John Hughes back in the 80’s.
In this charming critically-acclaimed tale of first love, Link (Jon Tomlinson), an eternal optimist and adventurer, seeks to capture the heart of Zelda, an unattainable high school beauty and straight-A student (Zane Bauer). He surprises just about everyone-including himself-when she returns the sentiment. But the high school’s over-possessive, megalomaniacal Principal Ganondorf (Dominic Moschitti) doesn’t approve and it’s going to take more than just the power of love to conquer all.
Perfectly capturing the essence of what it means to be a teenager in the 80s, Nick Murphy, Mike Sadorf, and Dom Moschitti reimagine one of the most celebrated video game franchises of all time with the heart, charm, and wit that only they could. It’s the legend of high school. It’s the legend of love. It’s The Legend of Zelda.
What’s pretty cool is the distorted quality of the video takes me back to the days when I was a kid watching movies on a crappy VHS player (freakin’ kids these days are spoiled with their fancy schmancy HD blu-ray players). It also cracks me up when I see Link in a parody of a scene from classic movies such as ‘The Breakfast Club’ and ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’. Considering it hurt my eyes a bit to watch this trailer (okay… even I’m HD spoiled), I can’t help but appreciate the creativity behind the team that produced this film. I hope there will be more in the future.
