When I first heard that tubby comedian, Seth Rogen was cast as the lead in The Green Hornet movie, I was a bit skeptical. Rogen has been great in movies such as Knocked Up and Pineapple Express, yet I couldn’t imagine him being the sophisticated vigilante. Now that pictures are leaking on the web, I am impressed on how much Rogen has slimmed down for this role. Rogen has been quoted recently that he took the role seriously and wanted to get into “fighting shape”. With the help of a personal trainer, Rogen has taken may different steps to change his diet and lifestyle.
“I’ve been eating better and training – and hating myself for it. I feel like a sell-out, I feel lame, I feel like a guy I would make fun of.”
Apparently, Rogen is not digging the new changes, but we are happy he is making an attempt.
“I go there real early in the morning. He tells me what to do, and I go home and go to sleep, and it’s like it never even happened.”
It will be interesting to see some visuals such as a trailer or a teaser to see how the movie will flow. We hope the story and character development is done well considering it would be a shame for Rogen to go through the torturous act of getting “healthy” only to have the movie blow. Funny thing is, even with all the weight loss and the signature Green Hornet mask, you can see that goofy face of Seth Rogen. Hit the jump to see more pictures!

The Green Hornet finally found his Kato. First it was Stephen Chow (Shaolin Soccer) and then he left the project. Rumors had it that South Korean superstar, Kwon Sang-Woo was up for the role. Now Colombia Pictures has officially announced that Taiwanese singer/actor phenom, Jay Chou will play Kato which was originally played by the legendary Bruce Lee in the television show.
Heres the official press release from Colombia Pictures:
CULVER CITY, Calif., August 7, 2009 – After a worldwide search, Jay Chou, the multi-hyphenate singer-actor and a star throughout Asia, has joined the cast of Michel Gondry’s The Green Hornet in the iconic role of Kato, it was announced today by Doug Belgrad and Matt Tolmach, presidents of Columbia Pictures.
When questioned about his opportunity to play Kato, Chou said,“It’s an overwhelming experience to take on a role made famous by Bruce Lee. I won’t try to be Bruce Lee’s Kato – I will try to bring my own interpretation to the part. Of course, it’s a dream role, and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

Korean superstar actor Kwon Sang-Woo may be just be what the ‘Green Hornet’ team has been looking for. While nothing has been officially announced or confirmed, it is certain that the Seth Rogan (star and writer), Evan Goldberg (co-writer) and Michel Gondry (director) have been searching for a new “Kato” after Chinese actor/director, Stephen Chow (of Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle fame) left the project.
Very little is known about Kwon Sang-Woo in the states, but he is one of the most sought after actors in South Korea. Consider him the equivalent of Brad Pitt in Asia. He has been in numerous hit dramas and films such as ‘Stairway to Heaven’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in High School’. You may also recognize him from a movie called ‘Volcano High’ that premiered in the United States on MTV. The original Korean version was great to watch, but MTV and horrible voice overs featuring rappers and hip-hop artists made the movie a huge joke. Thanks for nothing, MTV.
