If you know anything about me, I am a HUGE fan of 2D artists. I think that beautiful pencil art is slowly losing the battle against digital art and I hold dear any artist that proves otherwise. Maybe that’s why the incredible art of Mike Henry AKA zatransis (@zatransis) of Big Menace Industries has me in awe and envy of his incredible talent. Hailing out of San Francisco, California, this professional 2D artist has worked in the video game, comic, and animation industry. His unique style of caricature-style art with beautiful use of vibrant and deep colors sets himself apart from the rest. The over-exaggerated facial features and embellished expressions oozes attitude and emotions from the drawing and gives it a life of it’s own. Everything from the Joker’s vicious grin, to Mr. Freeze’s cold stare, and the whimsical glimmer in Harley Quinn’s eyes are a testament to Mike Henry’s amazing attention to detail. While I have ranted over the years that Bruce Timm (@brucetimm) of ‘Batman and Superman Adventures’ fame is probably the best illustrator/animator to ever draw Batman, I would have to now say that Mike Henry has proven me wrong.

Hit the jump and check out Mike Henry’s amazing Batman Villain collection. You can see more of Mike’s work at his DeviantArt page!

Brian Azarello's Joker, Cover by Patricia Mulvihill

The night Joker was released from Arkham, the dregs sent some nobody named Jonny Frost to go pick him up and show him around town.  Joker had caught wind that most of his assets, and by that I mean to say his city, had been snatched up by a few unscrupulous chums looking to get ahead while the clown was away.  So sets the stage for the Brian Azarello and Lee Bermejo “Joker.”

Released near Dark Knight, the book seemed to have slipped under the radar of most comic aficionados, perhaps over shadowed by Alan Moore’s representation of the Joker from Killing Joke.  That is part of what makes “Joker” so successful.  Let’s face it kids, Alan Moore’s Joker shot Barbara Gordon in the spine.  How much darker can you get with the clown prince?

20091022blackrhinocollection

First Star Wars. Then Halo. Now clothing designer and manufacturer, Marc Ecko tackles the infamous baddies of sci-fi and horror movies. Called, “The Black Rhino Collection”, Marc Ecko has created 5 new zip-up hoodies inspired by cult classic icons such as Jason Voorhess from Friday the 13th, Jigsaw from Saw, “The Demon” (Gene Simmons) from KISS (not sure why they are grouped with the others) and The Dark Knight’s Batman and Joker. Each of these goes for a little under 100 dollars and is limited edition, so they are collectible as well. Just don’t buy wear these if your planning to rob a bank. I don’t want to hear on the news that Jason Voorhees was killed in a burglary attempt. Or do I? Hit the jump to see these fantastic hoodies from The Black Rhino Collection (The Joker hoodie is my favorite!)

obama-streetposter

Those crazy kids in LA are at it again! Street posters featuring President Obama as the popularized Batman character, the Joker and popularized by the late actor Heath Ledger in last year’s Dark Knight film have begun springing up all across the city. No word yet if the Obama administration will be inviting the poster’s unknown artist to the White House to promote his new socialist agenda. iGeekers should recall the extensive impact street artist Shepard Fairey played during Obama’s election campaign through the contribution of his ‘Obama Hope’ poster.
