On June 10th, when JJ Abram’s highly anticipated film, ‘Super 8′ hits theatres, you might find yourself experiencing a new way of watching movies. In 50 select theatres nationwide, “D-Box Motion Code” chairs will be outfitted for the premiere for Super 8. D-Box Motion Code seats will feature “motion control” which will move the movie goer front, back, and sideways along with the film. Based on whats going on in the movie, the seat will activate “intelligent vibrations” in which will take the audience to a new level while watching movies. D-Box Technologies CEO Claude McMaster has decided that Super 8 will be the best movie to take advantage of the D-Box Motion Code’s “incredibly realistic motion effects”. This is all cool and all, but I’m pretty sure the general movie goer WILL destroy these seats in a matter of weeks and I hope D-Box has done enough field testing to know that these are worthy investments for movie theatre owners. Also, I have to ask. Considering a standard movie ticket without IMAX or 3D is over $10 a person, how much is a movie ticket with D-Box Motion Code seats going to cost?

Hit the jump and check out a quick promo for the D-Box Motion Code seats!

Sometimes, putting yourself out there will help your chances in finding great opportunities. That is the case with Michelle Coyle (@michellecoyle) who sent out a video “Open Letter” directed to J.J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof, Bryan Burk, Kurtzman and Orci, and the team at Bad Robot. Her objective? To be cast in JJ Abram’s next ‘Star Trek’ movie or any other projects in development in film and television. Seems like great timing considering Abrams has confirmed that the new script for ‘Star Trek 2′ is indeed finished. After checking out the video, I have to say that there seems to be hint of desperation from Michelle to be in anything that Abrams is working on. Either shes a huge fan girl of Abram’s work or… shes looking for a different option because her open letter to Ronald D. Moore to be cast in ‘Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome’ didn’t pan out the way she expected. All I can say is I am impressed by your determination and I wish you all the luck. Somebody “pity cast” her in something already…

fringefour

‘Fringe’ fans can breathe a little easier tonight knowing that their favorite show is coming back for season four. The news was announced on Twitter by executive producer J.H. Wyman (@JWFRINGE) who tweeted, Fringe was picked up!!! Thanks Fringedom!”. The fan and critic favorite sci-fi series who has been a ratings loser (last week’s episode scored a series low 3.85 million viewers) of lates and many have been scared whether the series will be cancelled at the end of this season. With so many questions unanswered, it was a dreadful thought to think it wasn’t. I guess it was a nice surprise that Fringe was picked up for a full season of 22 episodes. That is amazing considering even though Fringe was sent out to Friday nights to die, the series is number one among adults 18-49. That is saying something considering most entertainment sites has put the “mark of death” on this series. Thanks to the amazing fans and support from the brass at Fox, Fringe sees to fight another day. HUZZAH!

During Super Bowl XLV, we finally get a taste of JJ Abram’s ‘Super 8′ movie preview. All I can say is that the preview was pretty awesome. There is something very magical about Super 8. Almost has the same feeling as Steven Spielberg’s ‘ET’ or James Cameron’s ‘The Abyss’. A surreal vision into what may happen when an intergalactic or non-human force rocks a small suburban town. There is nothing modern about Super 8 when it comes to when and where the story takes place and it almost reminds me of a live-action version of ‘The Iron Giant’. The preview does not give much away like the viral campaign video from last year, but the visuals and narration during the 30 second spot really gets you excited. The score is amazing as well. JJ Abram’s next movie seems to be something very special.

We all love super secret projects. Especially when that super secret project is from the mind of writer/director/producers, JJ. Abrams and Steven Spielberg. Last week, Paramount announced that the teaser trailer for JJ. Abrams new film, Super 8 will be featured with Iron Man 2. Considering that I did go watch Iron Man 2 at the local theatre on IMAX, I scratched my head when the Super 8 teaser didn’t show and I felt a bit cheated. Well, couple days later the HD version of Super 8 has hit the web and for all of us to view.

Super 8 is written and directed by JJ. Abrams and will be produced by Steven Spielberg. While there isn’t much official new regarding story or casting for Super 8, speculation is rampant on the web about the possibility that is a prequel to JJ. Abrams earlier film, Cloverfield. Cloverfield as well was a well kept secret when it was being filmed. While this is just speculation, it definitely feels like there is a monster-type creature involved, but I could be wrong. We ARE talking about JJ. and Steven here. Regardless, based on just what I see in this teaser, Super 8 is definitely going to be a wild ride. Super 8 will drop in 2011.
