I find this statue to be quite awesome. Expanding on the very popular, “Marvel Bishoujo” collection designed by Shunya Yamashita, famed toy maker, Kotobukiya newest release will be featuring our favorite ginger from the X-Men, Jean Grey (AKA Phoenix). Kotobukiya already made a bishoujo version of Phoenix so this is pretty exciting to see that Jean’s old yellow and blue costume is getting some love considering its my favorite.

Having already joined the lineup in her Phoenix form, Jean Gray is back – and in her classic yellow and blue uniform! One of the most beloved heroines in the Marvel Universe and part of the initial X-Men lineup, the telekinetic Jean Gray has been perfectly depicted here in a newly reinvisioned form by master illustrator Shunya Yamashita. With her costume based on the Jim Lee design used in X-Men Vol. 2 #1, this is sure to be a fast favorite for any X-Men fan! Jean is posed in the middle of using her mental powers and her base shows her engaged in mid-air combat. The base also features elements of the X-Jet and is shown firing a missle to support Jean’s efforts! Jean even includes special clear effect parts that can be attached to the figure to simulate her Psychic Blast attack!

I really love the themed base featuring the “X-Men Blackbird” shooting out of a cloud of smoke. Beautifully designed by Shunya Yamashita and sculpted by Youhei Suzuki (Heavy Gauge), you can get your mitts on bishoujo Jean Grey in August for around 50 bucks!

This is pretty incredible. Jim Lee kind of reminds us why he is who he is. Using the Apple iPad and Sketchbook Pro app, Jim decides to just randomly doodle (the word “doodle” is used very loosely) Batman. What was awesome is that someone films Jim in action!

This is a very sped up clip of me messing around on my iPad. Original video was 20 mins in length; it usually takes me about 60-80 mins to get one of these pieces done using @sketchbookpro. I prefer using my finger to a stylus of any sort–makes it more fun. I honestly have to say this piece was not going in the direction I wanted so I stopped and got back to real work : ) but you get a general sense of how I layer on colors and work positive and negative shapes back and forth to get edges…like in painting.

What makes me crazy when I watched this video was the fact that he does this with his finger! His FREAKIN’ finger! People would kill to be able to do work at this level with just a pencil, but Jim Lee can pull this off with a iPad and his finger. Whats even worse is based on his description, this was not “work” and he thought it wasn’t good. I’m pretty sure 99% of all artists in this world would kill to have something at great in their portfolio. Thank you Jim Lee. You inspire us and bring us down at the same time!

While the majority of the general public are using Apple’s new iPad to answer email, tweet, and update their Facebook pages, DC Comic’s newly appointed co-publisher/artist extraordinaire Jim Lee used his new iPad he obtained over last weekend (as you can see above from his Twitpic) to create two masterpiece of DC’s infamous villains, the Joker and Catwoman. Utilizing the Autodesk’s Sketchbook Pro iPad app, Jim Lee shows us the power and capabilities the new iPad has to offer. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have Jim Lee’s talent and million dollar hands as well. Whats terrifying is that these two great pieces were created after only one weekend of playing with the iPad. Gawd knows what else Jim Lee will have in store for us in the future. After finishing his pieces, Jim Lee tweeted “my fingers make for clumsy brushes…”. Sorry Mr. Jim, but those are clumsy “brush finger-thingies” that I would kill for.

Hit the jump to check out the Jim Lee’s Joker and Catwoman iPad doodles.
