This is pretty incredible. Jim Lee kind of reminds us why he is who he is. Using the Apple iPad and Sketchbook Pro app, Jim decides to just randomly doodle (the word “doodle” is used very loosely) Batman. What was awesome is that someone films Jim in action!

This is a very sped up clip of me messing around on my iPad. Original video was 20 mins in length; it usually takes me about 60-80 mins to get one of these pieces done using @sketchbookpro. I prefer using my finger to a stylus of any sort–makes it more fun. I honestly have to say this piece was not going in the direction I wanted so I stopped and got back to real work : ) but you get a general sense of how I layer on colors and work positive and negative shapes back and forth to get edges…like in painting.

What makes me crazy when I watched this video was the fact that he does this with his finger! His FREAKIN’ finger! People would kill to be able to do work at this level with just a pencil, but Jim Lee can pull this off with a iPad and his finger. Whats even worse is based on his description, this was not “work” and he thought it wasn’t good. I’m pretty sure 99% of all artists in this world would kill to have something at great in their portfolio. Thank you Jim Lee. You inspire us and bring us down at the same time!

While the majority of the general public are using Apple’s new iPad to answer email, tweet, and update their Facebook pages, DC Comic’s newly appointed co-publisher/artist extraordinaire Jim Lee used his new iPad he obtained over last weekend (as you can see above from his Twitpic) to create two masterpiece of DC’s infamous villains, the Joker and Catwoman. Utilizing the Autodesk’s Sketchbook Pro iPad app, Jim Lee shows us the power and capabilities the new iPad has to offer. Of course, it doesn’t hurt to have Jim Lee’s talent and million dollar hands as well. Whats terrifying is that these two great pieces were created after only one weekend of playing with the iPad. Gawd knows what else Jim Lee will have in store for us in the future. After finishing his pieces, Jim Lee tweeted “my fingers make for clumsy brushes…”. Sorry Mr. Jim, but those are clumsy “brush finger-thingies” that I would kill for.

Anyone buy an iPad yet? Considering the fact that I am still waiting till the “end of April” for Apple to ship me my iPad 3G, I couldn’t help but shit a brick when I laid eyes on the iPad L on dannychoo. I pretty much broke my wireless mouse only to notice that the update for the iPad L was on April 1st. Of course, a sigh of relief came over me when I realized that it was a hoax, but I became pretty impressed with the convincing prank. The so-called iPad L was suppose to feature a snazzy 16 inch touch screen at a 1600×1200 resolution. Considering the joke priced the iPad L with a hefty price tag of 82,800 yen (over $880), ya have to think whether the legions of Apple fans would buy this monstrosity. I think so. I would…
