So… this is definitely… new. Hong Kong toy designer/manufacturer, Hot Toys is pretty well known for their amazing articulate 1:6 scale action figures and impressive sculpting skills. Well, Hot Toys recently started offering generic 1:6 scale action figures called “Hot Toys True Types” for collectors to buy that wants to make customized action figures. Standing at around 12 inches and with 38 points of articulation, collectors can dress True Types figures as military, fantasy, sci-fi, etc. themed characters. Hot Toys is offering the male True Type figures in three different styles. Unfortunately, the “African American” Advanced version True Type action figures looks a bit like President Obama. Just look at that face! Can it be anyone else? Even worse is that all True Type action figures come butt-nekked. If you are down with seeing Presidential skin, this is your figure! As much as I am a loyal fan of Hot Toys, I think sculpting the face so close to the most powerful man in the United States was a unfortunate mistake. Expect these True Type action figures for sales in August for about 35-45 dollars. Good gawd, President Obama is buff as hell! /stare

GRADE: 5 out of 10 dead Ewoks. I can’t help, but stare…

If you are lucky and find yourself in Hong Kong in the next two weeks, incredible toy designers, Hot Toys, is holding a really cool exhibit at Miramar Shopping Center called “Hot Toys X Iron Man CollARTible Expo”. The expo will feature and celebrate Hot Toy’s bitchin’ Iron Man Movie Masterpiece line. On display will be a huge array of Hot Toy’s Iron Man collectibles and even a 1:1 scale War Machine statue from Iron Man 2. On top of that, Hot Toys invited designer/sculptors/artists from around the world to participate in a showcase of custom Iron Man Mark III Movie Masterpiece action figures. Representing the US will be the creative team from Sideshow Collectibles. Sigh… Don’t mind me… I’m just pissed I’m not in Hong Kong right now. Iron Man and dim sum? What can be better?!

If any of you are familiar with my loves, you will know that Hot Toys and Iron Man is way up top on my list of numerous obsessions. On that note, I couldn’t help, but freak out when master movie collectibles designer/producers, Hot Toys  announced earlier this year that they will be continuing their insanely pwn-some Iron Man Movie Masterpiece line well into the Iron Man 2 movie franchise. My mouth watered thinking about the possibilities. Everything from a 12 inch (1:6 scale) War Machine, Iron Man Mark IV, V, and VI Movie Masterpiece figure were dancing in my heard, only to be disappointed by the Hot Toy’s newest teaser image which featured… Whiplash.

The sculptors at Hong Kong collectibles designer/producers, Hot Toys must have stood at a cross road and made a deal with the devil cause their uncanny ability to design and sculpt faces to be as realistic as the celebrity is insane! With the upcoming Iron Man 2 movie, Hot Toys is following up their hugely popular Iron Man Movie Masterpiece collection with a Tony Stark flight mechanics test version 12 inch action figure. This is the first Iron Man figure from Hot Toys that isn’t just a suit and actually features a human face.

This cool figure includes a ton of bell and whistles such as:

  • Newly sculpted head (sculpted by Kojun) with authentic and detailed fully realized likeness of Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark in the movie IRON MAN.
  • ABS material TrueType body with newly designed chest, forearms and forelegs
  • 34 points of articulations.
  • Two pairs of interchangeable hand palms.
  • LED-lighted heart device, hand gauntlet and boots (battery operated, batteries included).
  • Real-like mechanically wired hand gauntlet and boots

Detailed Accessories:

  • Articulated mechanical robot with 360° rotated base and fire extinguisher as accident detector.
  • Belt with one large and one small bag.
  • A pair of knee pads.
  • A pair of real-like leather shoes.

Value-added Equipment:

  • 6” X 6” black-color square-shape figure stage.
  • Cardboard backdrop imitating Tony Stark workshop setting where he practiced flight in the film.

This snazzy Tony Stark figure is going to drop around March 2010 and most likely will be available exclusively through Sideshow Collectibles. I’m planning to set this figure up w/ Tony smashing into the wall like it the movie. LMAO!
