I Heart Toys: This Hot Toys Iron Man Mark II is More Than Just an Action Figure

It looks like Hot Toy’s is going to milk ‘Iron Man 2′ for every little drop it can muster. Continuing on their tradition of designing and manufacturing the great action figures of all time (probably one of the most expensive as well), Hot Toys is releasing the newest addition to their Iron Man Movie Masterpiece line with an Iron Man 2: Mark II Armor Unleashed version Movie Masterpiece 12 inch action figure. From the looks of it, this is a replica of the Mark II suit that was taken from Tony Stark by Jim Rhodes. Instead of like the original Mark II action figure Hot Toys released for the first Iron Man movie, this version looks to be able to be disassembled like in the film where the Mark II suit was reconfigured to become what we know as War Machine. I love the fact that this figure is different from the rest as it kind of looks more like a cut-away figure than anything else. This lovely beauty will probably be around $250 and be out at the end of the year. Now, when the hell am I going to get an Iron Monger Hot Toys figure? Probably never…

I Heart Toys: Hot Toys’ Sweeney Todd is Deadly and Cool

Just in case you didn’t know, the picture above is not a screen cap from the movie, but an actual picture of Hot Toys’ ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’ Movie Masterpiece action figure. I have been a huge fan of the play and Tim Burton’s movie so you can imagine how thrilled I was when Hot Toys announced that their newest “Movie Masterpiece” figure will be of Mister Todd.

Hot Toys loves Johnny Depp. Paying tribute to the award-winning movie Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street directed by Tim Burton which is adapted from the hit Broadway musical, Hot Toys is proud to present the Sweeney Todd Collectible Figure specially crafted based on the image of Johnny Depp as Sweeney Todd in the movie, highlighting the newly sculpted head, highly detailed costume and shaving accessories, movie-accurate barber chair and backdrop of the iconic movie scene.

Like all Hot Toys action figures, Todd will come with a wide assortment of accessories and interchangeable limbs for your preferred customization. Hot Toys plans to release think figure around September-October 2011 and it should go for around $250.

Scarlett Johansson Pops Her Top in ‘Black Widow Gone Wild’ (Kinda…)

The czar of fan-made stop-motion animation using action figures has to be Patrick Boivin (the creator behind “Iron Baby“). Boivin’s newest stop motion short titled, “Black Widow Gone Wild” stars the ‘Iron Man 2′ Black Widow (Scarlet Johannson) movie masterpiece action figure from Hot Toys. Through-out the short, Black Widow beats the shit out of some baddies and some heroes including the T-1000 from ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day”, Batman from ‘The Dark Knight’, Superman from ‘Superman Returns’, and even Michael Jackson. It seems that Black Widow is having one seriously shitty day and she just felt like punching some faces and kicking some balls. From the looks of it, Boivin is getting better and better. I can’t wait to checkout his next creation.

The Greatest Indiana Jones Action Figure EVER MADE.

Holy shit, this figure is awesome! Hong Kong based, figure designer/manufacturer, Hot Toys, is well known for their incredible action figures from movies such as ‘Iron Man’ and ‘The Dark Knight’. Well, Hot Toys (who is collaborating with Sideshow Collectibles) signed a huge licensing agreement with LucasArts to make 1:6 scale articulate action figures for Indiana Jones. I can honestly say that every Indy figure that came out in the past looks like shit. Other than the signature clothing, the facial sculpt was less than spectacular and it makes me cringe. This is not the case with Hot Toys x Sideshow Collectibles’ Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark: Indiana Jones Movie Masterpiece DX05 1:6 scale collectible action figure  This bad ass version of our favorite professor of archeology comes with an array of accessories such as his signature whip, brown fedora, and even a golden Fertility Idol statue! It even comes with Hot Toys’ “Parallel Eyeball Rolling System” which allows Indy’s eyes to adjust pending on his pose. I have collected about 80% of all of Hot Toys’ releases and this figure makes me giddy like a little school girl. It’s THAT freakin’ awesome. Indy will release in the summer and goes for about $250. Get Ready! Indiana Jones Movie Masterpiece is Coming Soon From Hot Toys! Possibly, Star Wars as Well!

My prayers have been answered! After a long wait, there will finally be an awesome Indiana Jones figure. Hot Toys released a teaser regarding a new “Movie Masterpiece” 12 inch collectible action figure for ‘Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark“! This time, Hot Toys will take a crack at our favorite professor of archeology. In the past, action figure giant, Medicom Toys created less than spectacular Indy 12 inch action figures that lacked detail or articulation. That isn’t the case with Hot Toys. If you are familiar with Hot Toys’ awesome “Movie Masterpiece” figure line, you know that their sculptors are one of the best in the industry. Their attention to detail makes these more than toys. Some of the facial sculpts are so good that people think they are looking at a picture of the actor/actress and not at a toy. Hot Toys will be unveiling their first Indy figure during Hot Toys’ 10th anniversary exhibit during December 24-26 in Tokyo, Japan.

Based, on their tease, what really opened by eyes was the words, “THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH US!!!“. Can it be true? Is Hot Toys going to move into producing “Movie Masterpiece” action figures for ‘Star Wars‘? From what was hinted, it looks to be true. We won’t know for sure until more info is released, but I think there is a good chance that Star Wars will be joining Hot Toys’ vast collection of licenses. HURRAH!

Thursday Toys: The Incredibly Awkward Nekked President Obama Figure (Unofficially)

So… this is definitely… new. Hong Kong toy designer/manufacturer, Hot Toys is pretty well known for their amazing articulate 1:6 scale action figures and impressive sculpting skills. Well, Hot Toys recently started offering generic 1:6 scale action figures called “Hot Toys True Types” for collectors to buy that wants to make customized action figures. Standing at around 12 inches and with 38 points of articulation, collectors can dress True Types figures as military, fantasy, sci-fi, etc. themed characters. Hot Toys is offering the male True Type figures in three different styles. Unfortunately, the “African American” Advanced version True Type action figures looks a bit like President Obama. Just look at that face! Can it be anyone else? Even worse is that all True Type action figures come butt-nekked. If you are down with seeing Presidential skin, this is your figure! As much as I am a loyal fan of Hot Toys, I think sculpting the face so close to the most powerful man in the United States was a unfortunate mistake. Expect these True Type action figures for sales in August for about 35-45 dollars. Good gawd, President Obama is buff as hell! /stare

Hot Toys X Iron Man CollARTible Expo… I Wish I Was There…

If you are lucky and find yourself in Hong Kong in the next two weeks, incredible toy designers, Hot Toys, is holding a really cool exhibit at Miramar Shopping Center called “Hot Toys X Iron Man CollARTible Expo”. The expo will feature and celebrate Hot Toy’s bitchin’ Iron Man Movie Masterpiece line. On display will be a huge array of Hot Toy’s Iron Man collectibles and even a 1:1 scale War Machine statue from Iron Man 2. On top of that, Hot Toys invited designer/sculptors/artists from around the world to participate in a showcase of custom Iron Man Mark III Movie Masterpiece action figures. Representing the US will be the creative team from Sideshow Collectibles. Sigh… Don’t mind me… I’m just pissed I’m not in Hong Kong right now. Iron Man and dim sum? What can be better?!
