How come we don’t get anything cool like this in the United States? BBC Worldwide Australia & New Zealand and Vivid Sydney teamed up to create a very cool “light celebration” for the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. A cool music video accompanied by the music of composer, Murray Gold was projected in Australia’s Customs House Sydney. This is brilliant and also serves as a cool tribute to the Matt Smith AKA Eleventh Doctor who will be finishing his run as The Doctor later this year.
Whoa, whoa, WHOA! Tabloid newspaper, The Daily Mail has posted that the current and Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith has called is quits on Doctor Who. Of course, it’s only a tabloid so you shouldn’t pay too much attention to it, but now, The Telegraph is reporting that Matt Smith is indeed quitting the gig that put him on the map after shooting the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special and 2013 Christmas special.
“Doctor Who has been the most brilliant experience for me as an actor and a bloke, and that largely is down to the cast, crew and fans of the show.
“I’m incredibly grateful to all the cast and crew who work tirelessly every day, to realise all the elements of the show and deliver Doctor Who to the audience.
“Many of them have become good friends and I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved over the last four years.”
“The fans of Doctor Who around the world are unlike any other; they dress up, shout louder, know more about the history of the show (and speculate more about the future of the show) in a way that I’ve never seen before, your dedication is truly remarkable.
“Thank you so very much for supporting my incarnation of the Time Lord, number Eleven, who I might add is not done yet, I’m back for the 50th anniversary and the Christmas special.”
Even though this was bound to happen, this is still sad news considering Matt Smith is loved by many new and old Whovians. It will now be interesting to see who will be taking over as the Twelveth Doctor.
Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. This is exciting! THR has just broke news that Marvel Studios‘ Guardians of the Galaxy camp just added another star to their already impressive ensemble. This time, ex-Doctor Who companion and ginger bombshell, Karen Gillan has been cast as an villain for the film. Gillan will be joining Lee Pace and Michael Rooker as the villains in the film. Gillan’s character has not been revealed yet, but rumors is that she will be playing an main alien baddie. I think it is safe to say that every geek boy and girl is very excited about this news. I sure am! Which villain do you think that Gillan will be playing?
Directed by James Gunn, Karen Gillan joins Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Glenn Close, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, and John C. Reilly. Guardians of the Galaxy drops on August 1, 2014
The Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) and the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) takes a moment to talk a little about the onscreen chemistry between the two Doctors in the 50th anniversary Doctor Who special. It’s pretty obvious that Smith and Tennant definitely has some amazing chemistry together and I can’t wait to see them in the special!
Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special drops on November 23, 2013!
If you want the world to take notice of your skills as a digital artist, this just might be the way to do it. Xander David-Hugh AKA Neon Visual, an “undiscovered UK AFX artist” put together this amazing fan-made video of the iconic TARDIS opening for Doctor Who. If you follow me on Twitter, you will know my dislike for the newest version of the opening and as a fan of Doctor Who and digital art, I can’t help, but want to help spread the word about Xander’s video so that Steven Moffat and BBC takes notice of this guy’s amazing work.
Who do you turn to if you’re a superhero that needs help? Well I guess you turn to The Doctor and the TARDIS. In Dean Trippe’s amazing art piece titled, “You’ll Be Safe Here“, The Doctor helps heroes in need of a little rescuing.

The incredible baker and fondantsmith Ant at Nerdache Cakes (@NerdacheCakes) is at it again with an amazing Winnie the Pooh and Doctor Who mash-up cake. I don’t usually post geek cakes and stuff anymore because everyone is doing it, but I can’t resist the epic charm of this beautiful cake. No one would have ever thought about mashing up Winnie the Pooh and Doctor Who, but it freakin’ works! No detail was overlooked in this awesome cake. Everything from Piglet dressed as a Dalek to the fez on Tigger head to the “Hunny” jar on top of the “Polise Bocs” is sheer genius.
