BAD ASS! Earlier this year, Smart USA commisioned Smart42Parts to do a custom Batmobile version of their Smart FourTwo vehicle. Whats really cool is that fact that legendary customizer and designer George Barris (who designed and built the 1966 Batmobile) help design the now called “BatSmart”. Barris’ BatSmart featured a faux turbine, custom fabricated bodywork, and a faux rocket launcher. Unfortunately, everything is just for looks, cause this machine runs on a 3 piston, 70 horsepower engine. The BatSmart premiered at the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show. Whats even cooler was forty BatSmarts were made to be sold to collectors. Even Batman has to be eco-friendly sooner or later.

First Star Wars. Then Halo. Now clothing designer and manufacturer, Marc Ecko tackles the infamous baddies of sci-fi and horror movies. Called, “The Black Rhino Collection”, Marc Ecko has created 5 new zip-up hoodies inspired by cult classic icons such as Jason Voorhess from Friday the 13th, Jigsaw from Saw, “The Demon” (Gene Simmons) from KISS (not sure why they are grouped with the others) and The Dark Knight’s Batman and Joker. Each of these goes for a little under 100 dollars and is limited edition, so they are collectible as well. Just don’t buy wear these if your planning to rob a bank. I don’t want to hear on the news that Jason Voorhees was killed in a burglary attempt. Or do I? Hit the jump to see these fantastic hoodies from The Black Rhino Collection (The Joker hoodie is my favorite!)

I’m Batman… and aren’t I fabulous?!
I always love it when comic book culture breaks its way into other types of popular culture. In this case, high end fashion. In the latest issue, French fashion magazine French Revue du Modes will feature model Ali Stephens and Batman. Batman trades in Robin for a much more glamorous sidekick as Ali is sporting an outfit that isn’t like anything any of her predecessors ever wore. Instead of the green and red spandex (like Robin), Ali rather be fighting crime in animal prints, checkers, stripes, and freakin’ crazy high boots. Its almost feels like a mash up between The Dark Knight and Vivienne Westwood. If Ali was to learn anything from the Caped Crusader, it is that black is always in style and you can strike fear with just your eyes. Jeez, she got some crazy eye make up on…

Those crazy kids in LA are at it again! Street posters featuring President Obama as the popularized Batman character, the Joker and popularized by the late actor Heath Ledger in last year’s Dark Knight film have begun springing up all across the city. No word yet if the Obama administration will be inviting the poster’s unknown artist to the White House to promote his new socialist agenda. iGeekers should recall the extensive impact street artist Shepard Fairey played during Obama’s election campaign through the contribution of his ‘Obama Hope’ poster.
