Oh what the hell… On Friday, Variety reported that actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt was signed to join Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ to play the villainous Alberto Falcone AKA “The Holiday Killer”. Well, now EW is reporting that the news was false and JGL is NOT Alberto Falcone.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, long-rumored to be joining his Inception brethren in The Dark Knight Rises, will appear in director Christopher Nolan’s third Batman film. But a source close to the situation says that recent reports that Gordon-Levitt will play Alberto Falcone (a.k.a. the Holiday Killer) — the son of former mob kingpin, Carmine Falcone (Tom Wilkinson) — are incorrect. So, Batman fans: Begin the re-speculation now!

I’m a bit torn considering Variety and EW are both highly respectable new sites for movies. Now that there is conflicting news regarding who JGL is playing in TDKR, I guess we have to wait for official word from Warner Bros. about who JGL will play. I just might slap myself if I have to look up more images to make another JGL/Alberto Falcone graphic. /facepalm

As of right now, I’m putting this as a rumor and my money goes to Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Dick Grayson AKA Robin/Nightwing. I know the ladies would love to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Dick in The Dark Knight Rises. wa wa wa waaaa…

Hurray! There is no need to speculate about Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s involvement in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’! Variety has confirmed that JGL will be playing Alberto Falcone, who is the youngest son of Carmine Falcone, who was played by Tom Wilkinson in ‘Batman Begins’. Alberto was also known as “The Holiday Killer” in ‘Batman: The Long Halloween’.

Born to Gotham City crime lord Carmine Falcone and his wife Louisa on February 14, Alberto Falcone was an outcast in his family of mobsters, a nonexistent part of the family business. His father supported his older siblings Mario and Sofia Gigante involvement in the “business” which created a pathological jealousy. He fought his way up on a scholarship to Harvard University and later went onto Oxford. Alberto Falcone was always eager to follow his father’s footsteps and offered his service, but Carmine Falcone refused to let his son get involved in his “business,” apparently wishing for Alberto Falcone to live a normal life. It is suggested that, contrary to Carmine’s open feelings, Alberto may have truly been his favorite child. However, Alberto Falcone had other plans. (via wiki)

As of right now, only Christopher Nolan has any clue on what kind of role Alberto will play in his final chapter of Nolan’s Batman series. There is only speculation whether Alberto will remain as a regular “mobster” criminal element in the story or something bigger as Holiday. Will Joseph-Gordon Levitt play an Alberto Falcone character that is trying to gain a foot hold in his father’s fallen empire and get payback on Batman or will he be a brutal serial murderer obsessed with the holidays? It is already difficult to tell where this story will go with the addition of Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway) and Bane (Tom Hardy) so we will just have to wait and see. Also, with the announcement of JGL as Alberto Falcone, actress Juno Temple (Cracks, Kaboom) also has been sign on to play a “street smart Gotham-girl”. Could this be Spoiler perhaps?

“The Dark Knight Rises” is scheduled for release on July 20, 2012

I do love good fan art. Los Angeles based graphic designer, Fernando Reza (@frodesignco) created two very rad fan-made movie posters for Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. Conceptual different from each other, but both are brilliantly executed. I especially love the “Breaking the Bat” version (right) as it features Batman in an x-ray with a broken back which is a great tie-in to the fact that Tom Hardy is signed on to play Bane. I also dig the cityscape and flying bats featured on “Dark Knight Rises” design. Both designs are dark and screams “Dark Knight”. If you really love these illustrations, Reza is offering these as 11×17” giclee prints. Each design is limited to 50 pieces and will set you back only 35 bucks.

Well, would that be nice? I’m not a fan of rumors regarding movies that I am dying to see, but some are worth mentioning even though its very speculative and standing on a house of cards. LatinoReview is reporting that a local news channel in Michigan has found out that Warner Bros. is scouting locations out of a certain sidekick for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.

WILX Channel 10 News in Michigan is reporting Warner Brothers was scouting Grand Ledge’s Fitzgerald Park last week. It also reported that “the area is being considered as a hideout for Batman sidekick Robin.”

The sources were Eaton County and Grand Ledge officials who didn’t want to be identified due to confidentiality agreements.

This is pretty much all an assumption, but its still fun to hear about. It also makes me wonder about the possible casting of Joseph Gordon-Levitt who worked with director Christopher Nolan on ‘Inception’. While the net is rampant with possible villains that JGL may play, have we ever thought that maybe it could be Dick Grayson aka “Robin, the Boy Wonder”? Why not? Nolan’s vision of Batman has not followed that of the comics and the various origin stories around the iconic characters. Does Bruce Wayne HAVE to meet Dick at a circus when he is only a child? Why not just a crafty young adult living on the mean streets of Gotham that shows great potential as a possibly partner for the Dark Knight? Anything is possible when it comes to Christopher Nolan and his storytelling. I think JGL would make an epic Dick Grayson and if this rumor is possibly true, ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ just got very interesting. On that note, I’m pretty sure nipples on the bat suit is NOT part of Nolan’s vision. Well, I hope not.
