People are talented and with that talent, they do some insane stuff. Couple years ago, David Alvarez, aka dAlvarez3182 did a pretty amazing mosaic of the late Heath Ledger as The Joker from ‘The Dark Knight”. Whats really impressive is that the fact that he did the whole thing with Rubik’s cubes. The Joke mosaic was huge measuring at 4 feet wide and 3 feet tall. It took 366 Rubik’s cubes to make it and David assures us he didn’t break the cubes or peel/paint the color panels to make the piece. If you want proof, you can check out David’s video of him building the mosaic from start to finish.

Hell yeah! This shit looks so wicked! This is not your typical wussy “Twilight” sparkling vampire. This is BATMAN! Based on “Elseworld Batman” from the “Vampire Trilogy” comes a statue that may cause nightmares if left near your bed. Standing at over seven inches, this mad statue is based on the illustration of Kelley Jones who also did art for the “Vampire Trilogy” such as ‘Batman/Dracula: Red Rain’, ‘Batman: Bloodstorm’, and ‘Batman: Crimson Mist’. What’s really awesome about this piece is the way “Vampire Batman” is rising out of his grave. The tombstone reading “Bruce Wayne” is a nice touch. Sculpted by William Paquet, this statue is made of cold cast porcelain (which sadly breaks very easily) and will be limited edition. That means if you break yours, someone elses’ statue is going up in value. The statue will be available in October (great timing) for under $100!

Yes… I would like to know. Why so curious? Designer and illustrator, Andy Hunt (@andyhunt) is up for vote at Threadless to have his newest design made into a shirt. His submission titled “Why So Curious?” is a pretty fucking funny mash-up of The Joker from ‘The Dark Knight’ and George the monkey from ‘Curious George’. The design is pretty adorable considering it is Curious George, but just looking into the bastard’s eyes, you can see that there some madness in that little monkey brain of his. You can vote for Andy’s design at the link below.

You clever and annoying bastards! I’m pretty annoyed when I run into infographics created by random companies (in this case, to trap random people into checking out their site and services. Well, unfortunately, some of these are pretty neat and this is the case with this inforgraphic. Titled, “The Evolution of the Batmobile” this visual infographic showcases ever variant of the Dark Knight’s ride from 1941 to the present. Every Batmobile from the comic, tv series, movies, etc. is featured. I’m not an expert on Batman vehicles so I am not sure how accurate this infographic is (I don’t even recognize some of these things…), but I do congratulate for suckering me into visiting their site (only so that I can save the image). The things I do for Batman. Sheesh.

I though Robin was some girl that he was hiding from me…

If only hooking up with superheroes was that easy. From Team Unicorn comes SuperHarmony. A special dating service that helps superheroes and villains connect with us regular folks. Oddly enough, the guys in the commercial seem a bit out of place next to Wonder Woman and Poison Ivy. They seem a bit over their heads next to these gals. Look at the guy standing next to Wonder Woman. See how she is holding him by the wrist. Looks like Wonder Woman doesn’t want this guys greasy hand any where near her body. Poor sucker.

Hit the jump to check out the video. Also, did anyone think that Lex Luthor kind of came off as Agent 47 from ‘Hitman’? Thats the vibe I got. Oh well…

I’m BATMAN… and I want to store your porn.

Oh goodie. Announced at New York Toy Fair 2011, mimoco will continue it’s partnership with DC Comics by releasing a new set of “mimobot” designer USB flash drives designed after “DC Classic” style Batman heroes and baddies. Available at two, four, eight, and 16GB flash drives, you will get your choice of classic Batman, Robin, The Joker, and Catwoman. The flash drives will cost around$20-60 pending on the storage size you get. These will be out at the end of the month and you can preorder yours at mimoco’s online store. If Batman is not your “cup of tea”, mimoco is planning mimobots for Superman, Green Lantern, and the Flash later this year. I hope Wonder Woman is part of that collection.

This is pretty incredible. Jim Lee kind of reminds us why he is who he is. Using the Apple iPad and Sketchbook Pro app, Jim decides to just randomly doodle (the word “doodle” is used very loosely) Batman. What was awesome is that someone films Jim in action!

This is a very sped up clip of me messing around on my iPad. Original video was 20 mins in length; it usually takes me about 60-80 mins to get one of these pieces done using @sketchbookpro. I prefer using my finger to a stylus of any sort–makes it more fun. I honestly have to say this piece was not going in the direction I wanted so I stopped and got back to real work : ) but you get a general sense of how I layer on colors and work positive and negative shapes back and forth to get edges…like in painting.

What makes me crazy when I watched this video was the fact that he does this with his finger! His FREAKIN’ finger! People would kill to be able to do work at this level with just a pencil, but Jim Lee can pull this off with a iPad and his finger. Whats even worse is based on his description, this was not “work” and he thought it wasn’t good. I’m pretty sure 99% of all artists in this world would kill to have something at great in their portfolio. Thank you Jim Lee. You inspire us and bring us down at the same time!

Hit the jump to see Jim Lee in action!
