Imagine ordering a plate of your favorite sushi and having it arrive with a Imperial Scout Trooper and speeder bike sculpture made of carrots and radishes? If I was you, I would lose my shit over how bad ass it is! Well, this is the case with Okitsugu Kado, a 39 year old sushi chef from Osaka, Japan who has a love for ‘Star Wars’ that is unmatched in the world of sushi.

‘In most cases I place vegetable sculptures on a dish for customers with their food, although with some of the bigger ones occasionally I will only put on display. I’m a huge Star Wars fan and a member of a Japanese fan group called Jedi Order. For my carvings I use everything from carrots, white radish, sweet  potato, Kyo-potato, radish, even pumpkin and more.  I’ve been carving vegetables for almost 15 years and have made more than 40 sculptures. Before that I trained in ice carving. Sometimes I need over ten hours to finish just one sculpture but it doesn’t matter to me because during carving I forget the time… I just want to see people smile – that is why I carve.’

Kado can be found using the “Force” at Minayoshi Sushi Bistro in Japan.

Awesome! Moleskine, who are known for creating “legendary notebooks” will be releasing new ‘Star Wars’ themed Moleskine notebooks. Available in plain and ruled paper, these notebooks will feature an awesome ‘Star Wars’ graphic including the iconic “text crawl” and “hyperdrive” graphics and metallic embossed logos. Each of these Moleskine journals will cost you $15-20 pending on the size and are available in Moleskine’s web store.

Also, to promote the new Star Wars collection, Moleskine created a cool stop-motion video featuring origami X-Wings and TIE fighters in the middle of a dogfight. Pretty bad ass in my opinion.

Do you dream about the Dark Side? I do. I dream about it all the time. That is probably the only time I can get a good night rest. While my dream includes punching Ewoks in the face and using the Death Star to blow up Endor, photographer Marie-Louise Cadosch has a different dream in mind. In this photograph collection titled “Dream of the Dark Side”, the photos follows the dream of a girl (modeled by Maura Waller) who happens to be a flesh-colored Twi’leek (which is freakin’ me out a bit) flirting with Darth Vader. Unfortunately, Vader is not amused and one confused Stormtrooper finds out what happens to people that try to seduce the Sith Lord. Twi’leeks dont get much of a break in the Star Wars universe do they?

An unknown Welsh engineer turned actor, Andy Whitfield made a huge splash when he was cast in the title role of Spartacus in Starz’s ‘Spartacus: Blood and Sand’. After just one season, Andy gained a huge fan following and his career looked to be getting  bigger and better until Andy was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Andy exited the show only to promise his fans that he will return after getting treatment. During that time, Starz was gracious enough to put the series on hold and produced a prequel instead titled ‘Spartacus: Gods of the Arena’. Even though he was declared “cancer free”, it seemed that a quick recovery was not in the picture as the cancer returned quickly. Unfortunately, his lead to his decision to permanently step down from Spartacus and gave his blessings to Australian actor Liam McIntyre who took over the role. Now, after 18 months of fighting, Andy has succumbed to the cancer and passed away on September 11th, 2011 in Sydney, Australia.

Statement from his wife, Veshti:

“On a beautiful sunny Sydney spring morning, surrounded by his family, in the arms of his loving wife, our beautiful young warrior Andy Whitfield lost his 18 month battle with lymphoma cancer. He passed peacefully surrounded by love. Thank you to all his fans whose love and support have help carry him to this point. He will be remembered as the inspiring, courageous and gentle man, father and husband he was.”

Many released statements about Andy’s death, but none was as sincere and genuine as Spartacus co-star, Lucy Lawless:

“Obviously, Andy Whitfield left an indelible mark on all of us in the Spartacus family. He was a gentle man who never said a bad word about anyone, a gifted photographer, engineer (no really!) and a brilliant actor. Andy’s incandescent film presence made men want to be him and women want to marry him. Andy’s two babies will always know that their Daddy cherished them and their mother, Vashti, above all things. How lucky we were to have him grace all our lives. Godspeed, Andy!”

Andy, you will be missed and we are happy to know that you are in a better place.

Nothing like a pile of rocks to make children go ape-shit during Christmas. Especially if these rocks are from a ‘Star Wars’ Destroyed Alderaan action playset. The things I would do with this playset. Throw it… yeah… I have nothing…

‘Torchwood: Miracle Day’ came to an smashing ending this past weekend, and I have to say that “Miracle Day” went above my expectations, even though I enjoyed “Children of Earth” much more. Now that Starz and BBC’s joint project comes to an end with no information on a season six announced, what is next for John Barrowman (@Team_Barrowman) AKA the beloved Captain Jack Harkness? How about ‘Doctor Who’?

It’s the 50th anniversary coming up of Doctor Who and Jack is an integral part to this story and, if I’m going to be a little self-absorbed, I would hope he would be involved, it would be a shame if he wasn’t.
I don’t think it’s a question of whether I would like to come back as Captain Jack, I’d be very happy to do that any time. I know the fans would really like that. But it’s a decision left up to the BBC and the drama department.
So like I’ve said to all the fans, you need to write to them if you want it to happen because I’ve never been asked. I know Russell [T Davies] thinks it might be a nice idea as did [executive producer] Steven Moffat but who knows?

Barrowman recently told BANG Showbiz:

It’s the 50th anniversary coming up of Doctor Who and Jack is an integral part to this story and, if I’m going to be a little self-absorbed, I would hope he would be involved, it would be a shame if he wasn’t.

During Captain Jack Harkness’ stint in the world of Doctor Who, his popularity among fans was so huge that a spin-off series (’Torchwood’) was created. It is well know that John Barrowman has been publicly pushing for Captain Jack Harkness to be included in the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who. It is also know that while Captain Jack has found his way into the TARDIS with the Ninth and Tenth Doctor, however Harkness has never met the new Eleventh Doctor (played by Matt Smith). Barrowman has said during the Torchwood: Miracle Day panel as San Diego Comic Con 2011, that he has already got the blessing of Matt Smith and Russell T. Davies. Now it looks like the only ones holding it up is Moffatt and BBC. It looks like the Harkness fans will have to help push Moffatt and BBC to bring back Captain Jack Harkness into ‘Doctor Who’ next season by sending in letters pleading with the showrunners. I hope this actually happens. It better happen or I’m going to lose my shit.

“I bring you to a paradise planet two billion light years from Earth and you want to update Twitter.”

Hilarious. If you checked out last weekend’s newest episode of ‘Doctor Who’, titled “The Girl Who Waited”, you would a kick out of this picture by PTCHEW. I would love to follow Amy Pond on Twitter. That would be pretty bad ass in my opinion. Can you image the tweets coming from her account while she travels with the Doctor? That was make for an entertaining read.
