This is so awesome. Apparel designer/illustrator, Atomic Child (based in Denver, Colorado) newest creation “Teen Wook” is getting the spotlight over at TeeFury. A cool mash-up of ‘Teen Wolf’ and Chewbacca from ‘Star Wars’.
Tired of being relegated to the role of sidekicks, Wookie-kind took their talents to the NBA where their height and team spirit allowed them to earn million-dollar contracts and throngs of adoring fans.
It is pretty obvious that a Wookiee like Chewie would be extraordinary in the NBA. He is big enough to play center and would be amazing on defense. Especially if stacked up against guys like Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic. The problem I see would be the fact that Chewie would probably get ejected from every game for ripping off a ref’s arms and beating him with it for a ball call. Also, no matter what you say, Chewbacca would be a Los Angeles Laker. Trust me on that.
As usual, the ‘Teen Wook’ tee will only be on sale for 24 hours today (March 17, 2011)
Where to buy: TeeFury

Originally, I thought the US released trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s ‘X-Men: First Class’ was amazing. I was dead wrong. The international trailer for Russia is far superior to that of what we got over here. Chock full of new clips, the Russian version features a closer look into Magneto and various other mutants of the X-Men. We get a glimpse into Erik’s time as a child in a concentration camp during World War II (which was only shown briefly during the opening of Bryan Singer’s ‘X-Men’) and we see the struggle within Magneto due to his nighmare-ish past. We also get to see a small glimpse into Alex Summer AKA Havok’s power of generating plasma blasts and flight and the transformation of Hank McCoy into what we know as “The Beast”. I would have to say that the score featured on the Russian trailer is much better than the US version as it makes it feel a bit more epic in nature. Whats even cooler is the development of the SR-71 Lockheed “Blackbird” which becomes the advanced “X-Men Blackbird” of the future. What I can take from this trailer is three things. 1. Movie trailers sounds so much more amazing in Russian. 2. Magneto is not going to be the “good guy” we all think he going to be in First Class. 3. Damn, I am really excited about ‘X-Men: First Class. I wish someone would sub this trailer so I know what the heck is going on!
‘X-Men: First Class’ opens on June 3rd, 2011. Hit the jump to check out the trailer for ‘Люди Икс: Первый класс’

Warner Bros. recently released an animated short titled ‘Sucker Punch: The Trenches’ follows the story of who the men behind the masks of the mechanized soldiers are that the lovely gun-toting dames of ‘Sucker Punch’ are fighting.
In Sucker Punch, the girls face off against an army of mechanized WWI soldiers. Through the use of clockwork and steam technology, human soldiers who die in battle are reanimated and sent back to the front lines. Although seemingly indistinguishable and soulless, the zombie army is not just made of gears and steam, but also of human flesh, bone, and memory. In “The Trenches” there is a tragic tale behind each lifeless mask.
Ben Hibon (the man behind the animation) does an amazing job showing the life of a common soldier with a family cut-down by a sniper in war, only to be revived into a steampunk-type machine of war. As he continues to battle, his life passes before his eyes has the vicious circle of death by war victimizes him again. Even though, it is only inspired by Zack Snyder and Sucker Punch, Hibon does an amazing job recreating the world of Sucker Punch. It is definitely worth watching and it makes me even more excited to check out Sucker Punch on March, 25th, 2011.

I love it when people take LEGO fandom to the next level. Poster designers, OldRedJalopy created a pretty impressive collection of posters featuring the 2011 Oscar “Best Picture” nominated films with a LEGO twist. Each nominated film’s respective posters such as ‘Black Swan’, ‘Inception’, and ‘The King’s Speech’ are recreated integrating “LEGO people” in place of the human actors. I especially love the work done on Danny Boyle’s ‘127′ hours as it features an 8-bit style background featuring a LEGO cliff side. Unfortunately, unlike Aron Ralston (played brilliantly by James Franco) who cut his hand off to escape, LEGO Aron would only have to unplug his hand.

“Star Wars recreated … by me and Nick Frost. Not as good as the original but on a par with The Phantom Menace” – Simon Pegg
When I first watched ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’ years ago, I always thought Simon Pegg (@simonpegg) and Nick Frost (@nickjfrost) as a real life version of R2-D2 and C-3P0. There are not that many witty comedic duos like Pegg and Frost and it shows in the new College Humor original video. Apparently (based on what was mentioned on the video), Pegg and Frost tried to replicate ‘Star Wars’ shot by shot and they only were able to manage one scene. Costumed as ridiculously as possible (it might be a trash can lid on Frost’s head), Pegg and Frost play C-3po and Artoo in the scene where they search for Obi-Wan Kenobi in the deserts of Tatooine. Well, due to their bickering (just like the Droid duo) they can’t even manage a walk through the desert. I hope there will be more scenes in the future.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost stars in ‘Paul’ and it opens on March 18th, 2011. Hit the jump to check out Pegg and Frost’s ‘Star Wars’

This is a t-shirt I can really get behind. For fans of ‘Battlestar Galactica’ and sports, BustedTees has a pretty awesome tee of Caprica based pyramid team, “The Caprica City Buccaneers”. I can really imagine Samuel Anders sporting one of these t-shirts before the game. I really enjoy t-shirts like these a lot because it really takes a diehard BSG fan to know what the t-shirt is about… or at least someone that paid attention to all the details in the series anyways.
You can pick up on at BustedTees’ online store for $16.99! Hit the jump to take a closer look at the design.

I guess today is a great day for Daredevil fans everywhere. Coming off the directorial duties for ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ (which made over $700 million worldwide), director David Slade (@david_a_slade) (30 Days and Nights) has been signed by 20th Century Fox to direct a reboot for ‘Daredevil’. Slade who was rumored to be attached to ‘Wolverine’ got the bump from director Darren Aronofsky, and out of the blue is now with Daredevil. It was pretty quiet on the Hollywood front regarding a reboot for the Daredevil series and the last we heard (early last years), was that writer David Scarpa (The Last Castle) was hired on to write a script. We haven’t seen any news since than and now with the signing of Slade, it looks like 20th Century Fox is fast tracking the project. However, fans do not have to worry as it was announced that while the Daredevil movie will be a continuation and not an origin story, Ben Affleck is not attached to the project (SCORE!). Fans will have to wait for a while as Daredevil is only in development stages and Slade’s new project is Phoenix Picture’s period horror film, ‘The Last Voyage of the Demeter’ starring Ben Kingsley and Noomi Rapace.
