20090922supermanlives

Before Bryan Singer was signed onto Superman Returns, Tim Burton and Kevin Smith was originally signed on to direct and pen Superman Lives. Probably, due to the insane obsure vision of Tim Burton, the script and team was canned by Warner Bros. Along with script went Nicolas Cage, who was reported to have been cast at Superman. After a decade, we finally get a glimpse of what Superman Lives may have been and it is not pretty. Photos are leaked of Nic Cage in a screen test donning a horrific Superman costume. From the looks of the picture, Nic Cage apparently had to get himself wasted to gain enough courage to wear the outfit. We don’t know if this photo is legit or photoshop tom-foolery, but it kind of makes you wonder whether Superman Lives could have been better than Superman Returns. It is safe to assume that the costume in the photo wasn’t the final product, but that photo is giving me the freakin’ heebie jeebies. Hit the jump to see more conceptual art from Superman Lives.

We will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy our Jedi brothers, and don’t buy this t-shirt.

I can’t help but love parody t-shirts. Especially Star Wars parodies. Playing off of Samuel L. Jackson’s portrayal of Jedi Master Mace Windu (in Star Wars Episode 1,2, & 3) and Jules Winnfield in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, Split Reason gives us a shirt combining the best of both worlds by using a parody of a memorable quote from Pulp Fiction.  On that note, if Jules was actually a Jedi Master, I doubt Palpatine would have made it past Episode 3.

20090921marveldisneymashup01

In light of Walt Disney Company’s acquisition of Marvel Entertainment, Worth100.com held a contest asking thier online community members to submit digital artwork of Marvel/Disney mash ups. Even though everyone was only given 48 hours to enter their creations, the art is some of the best I have seen featuring Marvel and Disney character hybrids! Great work to all the artists! Hit the jump to see some of the best entries!

Sterling silver, polished steel, and dazzeling rubies. Combine to seduce and mystify…

So you’re a True Blood fan huh? Would you drop 200 bucks for some official True Blood earrings? What about over one grand for a chain necklace? Well, HBO’s licensing division and chief designer of Love, Peace, and Hope, Udi Behr thought you would.

The True Blood Jewelry Collection is inspired by the dark and sexy nature of the vampires in the HBO hit series. The new designs have been created in an edgy fusion of sterling silver, polished steel and luminous red rubies, many of which feature a patented fang-like clasp.

Marketed as high end fashion (well, with those prices it should be), the True Blood jewelry is a bit generic and has almost nothing to do with the series other than the rubies that are suppose to resemble blood droplets. It seems like HBO just wants to cash in on some suckers that love True Blood. Get it? Suckers? (silent laughter)
Now, if they named a hamburger after Sookie, I would buy that. Sookie Stackhouse Sirloin burger with bacon and sharp chedder? Me likey.

20090921horribleemmy

Due to past experiences watching the Emmys and the Academy Awards, I have given up on the entertainment value of all the award shows on television. However, there is a glimmer of hope as the 2009 Emmys (from this past weekend), featured Neil Patrick Harris (his 2nd year as the host of the Emmys) in his persona as Dr. Horrible from Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Even Captain Hammer (Nathan Fillion) makes an appearance along with a cameo from Felicia Day and Simon Halberg! Dr. Horrible is featured talking about the internet becoming the future of entertainment. Great job Emmys! NPH FTW! Hit the jump to see the “horrible” video!
