I find this pretty cool and confusing as hell. Chicago resident art director/graphic designer, Billy Ray decided to create a pretty complex, but simplified visual map of all the major events that took place in the ‘Battlestar Galactica’ universe. Titled, “Battlestar Galactica: Space & Time”, this infographic includes evens such as the settlement of the humans on the “Twelve Colonies” and when the colonies were infiltrated by the “skinjobs”.

I created this visual time line of the Battlestar Galactica universe after the season 4, episode 17 “No Exit” data dump resulted in near aneurism for my friends and me. I later updated it to include key points from the “Caprica” pilot movie.

This is pretty interesting and I think I need to go back to the beginning and watch BSG again to see if the infographic is correct or not. I had a hard time getting into ‘Caprica’, so I’m just going to take Billy’s word for it. Click the above image to enlarge for a better look!

sawtrek

There are a lot of people with unique talents and Natalia Paruz is one of them. Natalia, who is known as “The Saw Lady” is an award winning musical saw and novelty instruments player and busker based out of New York City. She is no common talent roaming New York’s subway stations. Natalia’s talents has taken her around the world to play in prestigious concert halls in orchestras such as Carnegie Hall and also has her music recorded for film scores. Well, I guess that is why it is so exciting to see her play the theme song for ‘Star Trek’ on her saw in a NYC subway station. It’s pretty cool considering that from the look on her face, she is enjoying what she does, considering random on lookers are kind of staring at her in awe. Either that or they are freakin’ stoned. I can’t tell if their eyes are “glassy” or not in the video. Regardless, its amazing what she does and I kind of wonder whether she can play “Imperial March” or “Duel of Faiths” on the saw for us ‘Star Wars’ fans.

brave

We finally get to see something new from Pixar after their brief trend in making sequels. Pixar’s first original story animation after ‘Toy Story 3′ and ‘Cars 2′, ‘Brave’ will be a princess fairy tale taking place in the Scottish highlands. Some of the talent actors signed to do voices are Reese Witherspoon, Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson,  Julie Walters, and of course, John Ratzenberger.

(via Collider) The impetuous, tangle-haired Merida, though a daughter of royalty, would prefer to make her mark as a great archer. A clash of wills with her mother compels Merida to make a reckless choice, which unleashes unintended peril on her father’s kingdom and her mother’s life. Merida struggles with the unpredictable forces of nature, magic and a dark, ancient curse to set things right.

Considering that all we have seen so far is the official logo (pictured above), Pixar has already made a few changes for the film.

1. Originally titled ‘The Bear and the Bow’, Pixar canned it for a simpler title, ‘Brave’. I think I would rather watch Brave over The Bear and the Bow. Good call Pixar.

2. Director Brenda Chapman (The Prince of Egypt) was signed for Brave, but since than she has been dropped for ‘One Man Band’ animated short director, Mark Andrews. No clue why Chapman was dropped. Maybe thats just how Pixar rolls.

3. Originally scheduled to be released during the holidays this year, the release date has been changed from July 22 to July 15th, 2012. Pixar must be “Brave” to go up against Timur Bekmambetov’s ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’ that same weekend.

Brave seems to be Pixar’s first attempt at a “princess fairy tale” movie and we” see how it stacks up against Disney’s like ‘Tangled’. I’ll put my money on Pixar.

I’m not a “picture and caption” kind of guy and I have no use for that on my site and leave that for my tumblr page (Kicking Ewoks for Fun!), but I could pass up the chance to spotlight this awesome cosplayer. Photo taken by Socal Photography at the recent Emerald City Comicon (which took place on March 4-6 at Seattle, Washington). As you can see, this is a brilliant cosplay of Ernie the Chicken as Boba Fett as seen in ‘The Family Guy’s hilarious take on ‘Star Wars’, “Something, Something, Something Dark Side”. From the looks of it, the cosplayer used the standard Boba Fett helmet from Hasbro and created the rest of the costume. I can’t help be in awe of this costume. I really wish I knew who the person behind the helmet was so I can give them some credit and some love.

See! That was more than a caption! Right?

dancetroopers

I love these odd ball ‘Star Wars’ illustrations! Illustrator, Jesse Lonergan put together a stellar collection of various Star Wars characters dancing their asses off. Titled “Dance with the Star Wars”, Jesse depicts various Rebel Alliance and Imperial Force soldiers ripping it on the dance floor. It is something about a Stormtrooper or Rebel soldier shakin’ what their momma’s gave them that makes them real sexy. Jesse’s simple, but elegant illustrations kind of reminds me of the days when I was young Sith-ling checking out the latest comic strips in the Sunday newspaper at breakfast. The illustrations are a bit innocent and whimsical. You almost forget that these two factions are at war with each other than wouldn’t hesitate to blast the other. My favorite has to be the Stormtrooper shreading on a guitar with this shirt off and the Jawa sporting a boombox. I guess music and dancing really brings even the worst enemies together. I would figure that Wookiees would be mean on the dance floor as well. Can you imagine Chewie doing the “Snoopy dance”? Well, wouldn’t that nice!?

riddler00

I love the Edward Nygma. The Riddler is probably my favorite villain from Batman and it’s exciting as hell to hear that the team at Rocksteady Studios will make the Riddler a major part of ‘Batman: Arkham City’. While the Riddler was barely seen in ‘Batman: Arkham Asylum’, the self-titled Master of Conundrums” will be stepping out the shadows to give with the “Caped Crusader” some trouble. While the Riddler won’t be the main baddie in the story, he will be a crucial character in Batman’s side-missions. Riddler might not being the final blow in the attempt to stop Batman, but he will make sure to do his part to whittle him down a bit. ‘Batman: Arkham City’ is set to hit stores on October 18th, 2011 for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. I can’t wait!

kateunderworld

Oooooo… Kate Beckinsale is back to reprise her role as Selene in the fourth installment in the horror/action hybrid ‘Underworld’ series, ‘Underworld: New Dawn’. Now, at the age of 37 and after skipping out on the third movie, ‘Underworld: Rise of the Lycans’ (which was a hot mess), Kate is as stunning as ever in skin-tight latex body suit and a grey pea coat. The photo above (the first with Kate as Selene) was take in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada where the movie is shooting. You all know how much iGT adores Kate Beckinsale, so its a “no brainer” than we would feature any picture of Kate in some latex. For curious Underworld fans, below is the plot for New Dawn:

After being held in a coma-like state for fifteen years, vampire Selene (Kate Beckinsale) learns that she has a fourteen-year-old vampire/Lycan hybrid daughter, Nissa, and when she finds her they must stop BioCom from creating super Lycans that will kill them all.

BioCom sounds a lot like “The Umbrella Corporation”. Go figure. There no word on the return of Scott Speedman as Michael, but Michael Sheen (Lucian) and Bill Nighy (Viktor) is set to return and actor Michael Ealy (For Colored Girls, FlashForward) will be playing  the lead male role as an FBI agent that is hunting Selene, who later becomes her ally. The team behind, ‘Shelter’, Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein are directing.

‘Underworld: New Dawn’ opens on January 20th, 2012
