201006ironbaby

If you weren’t aware, I took a week off from iGT to get hitched to the love of my life, Mrs. Geektrooper, so be patient with me if some of these posts are dirt old. Canadian director, Patrick Boivin is well known on the web for his epic stop motion mini-films such as “Iron Man Versus Bruce Lee” and “Transformers Bumblebee Boy“. Well, this time around, Patrick tries something new and created an epic parody of director Jon Favreau’s Iron Man film. Dubbed “Iron Baby“, Patrick replaces Tony Stark with a little cute tyke that whips terrorist bunny ass in a Mark III Iron Man suit made for an infant. Patrick did an amazing job with big budget film quality production and CGI effects. It was so awesome that  even Jon Favreau had to plug “Iron Baby” on his Twitter. You will definitely fall in love with this little baby and you may wonder who she is. Her name is Marguerite Bulte Boivin, who is Patrick’s baby daughter. Yes. Iron Baby is a girl. Sooo kyoot!

201005disneysizechart

Graphic designer, Juan Pablo Bravo (of Chile) has taken the task of creating a visual chart of the size comparison of 250 of your favorite Disney characters. He has already done a 200 character infographic for characters from Pixar films and also a 70 character infographic for all the villains from various Disney movies. Juan’s attention to detail is epic as he created this size comparison chart in chronological order and also color coded the character based on the importance the character’s role in their respective films. On top of that, each character’s  name is indicated in both English and Spanish. Not a single character was left out as the chart features characters such as Snow White to little Rhino from Bolt. The picture above is just a small sample of what Juan has created. The actual chart is HUGE and you can view it here!

201005batpod00

Well, if anyone has $100,000.00 laying around under a mattress or a sock, you can go and buy yourself a working 1:1 scale replica of the Batpod from Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight. badrobot2002 of Satellite Beach, Florida is selling his Batpod that him and his brother took several months to build. badrobot2002 and his brother are metal fabricator and custom bike builders by trade so you can rest assure that this Batpod runs well and is built like a tank (that rolls on 2 wheels… heh~). The mock up was originally built with wood and PVC pipes, but over time, the brother completed the bike completely in steel. The big wheeled beast runs a single cylinder/four stroke motor that runs at about 650CC just the like Batpod used in the movie.

The frame and all tubing were built from hardened steel and welded together for an unbelievable rendition of this famous vehicle. The covers and arm guards, which are formed with high tensile strength fiberglass, hide the actual engine which is a high output 650cc 4 stroke, water cooled engine with direct port nitrous injection delivering amazing power in a compact shell if it were ever needed. The front and rear tires measure 508 millimeters across and it is outfitted with grappling hooks, grenade launchers, and 50 caliber machine guns for those traffic jams on the freeway. (No… they don’t really work.) The pod has never been ridden on the street but has been tested in a controlled environment. This one-off custom would be the perfect addition for the collector who has it all, or for a museum piece that will draw a crowd like nothing else.

badrobot2002 has his bike on sale on eBay now starting at a hefty price tag of $100k and is looking for serious bidders. If eBay is unsuccessful, the Batpod will make its way to the famous Barrett Jackson auto auction. Unfortunately, the seller is NOT willing to offer free shipping… BOOOOO!!!

You can check out the auction here and hit the jump to check out more pix of badrobot2002’s Batpod.

201005waterworldcostner

Anyone that follows the news will know what is going on off the U.S. Gulf Coast. Due to a massive explosion on a British Petroleum controlled oil rig, over 210,000 gallons of oil (about 5000 barrels) is pouring in the ocean. BP has been an EPIC FAILURE on stopping the oil leak and the ocean and coral reef is suffering irreversable damage. Now, a hero has step forward to save the day. His name, actor and environmentalistKevin Fuckin’ Costner! Apparently, during Costner’s time making his big flop of a film, Waterworld, Costner invested millions and millions of dollars into developing a technology to turn sea water into drinkable purified water just like his character, the Mariner did in the movie. Well, apparently, Costner has many working prototypes that can seperate up to 98% of the crude oil from the sea water through a centrifuge-like process that he dubbed “Ocean Water Therapy”. His company that developed the technology is currently trying to convince BP and a board of engineers to put OWT into place and attempt to help clean up the mess.

It’s like a big vacuum cleaner,” explained one of Costner’s business partners. Costner, a longtime environmentalist, was glad that his invention would finally be deployed, but saddend at the occasion. “We’ve moved this to a technology that we know works, and has worked for a long time, Costner said, “It’s prepared to go out and solve problems, not talk about them.” He added: I just [am] really happy that the light of day has come to this, and I’m sad about why it is. But this is why it was developed, and like in anything that we face as a group, we all face it together.

When Waterworld came out and was deemed one of the biggest busts in box office history, we all laughed and mocked Costner for his failures and his careers has not really been the same since. If this technology actually works and helps clean up the ocean as promised, we are in for a HUGE “I told you so” from Costner and Waterworld. I hope it does work.

Hit the jump to see Kevin Costner’s press conference about his Ocean Water Therapy techology!
