It’s truly tragic when beautiful comic art never gets the treatment it deserves. In this case, print. Currently, artists Amy Reeder and J.H. William III are sharing the load on doing the interior pages for ‘Batwoman’. While each artist will take turn drawing each issue, the other will provide a variant cover. Variant covers are some of my favorite to collect and it is great incentive for comic collectors and retailers to sell more. Sadly, Amy Reeder has announced that DC Comics has decided to scrap the variant cover idea.

So, I’d done four of the five variants, when I had found out that DC decided not to publish any variant covers on Batwoman.
I have told many fans to keep an eye out for these variants and I apologize for getting your hopes up! No word yet on whether they will ever see print. I’ve tried to ask about printing them on the interior of their respective Batwoman issues, but haven’t heard anything yet.
No definitive word, either, on whether they will let me do covers for my arc. Or give me another cover gig. For now I’m still working on Batwoman interiors, and that’ll start February of next year.

Unfortunately, these amazing variant covers were penciled, inked, and colored by Amy Reed and they will never see the shelves of a comic book store. Until we get an update from DC Comics and Amy Reeder on the fate of these brilliant cover art, we can only enjoy them online.

Sometimes, the fans are better at making movie posters than the studios. Not saying that the posters for ‘The Dark Knight’ weren’t brilliant, but I find these fan-made movie posters by Bulgarian artist, Alexander Stojanov to be divine! Inspired by Drew Struzan’s poster for ‘Blade Runner’ (who also made posters for ‘Indiana Jones’, ‘Back to the Future’ and ‘Star Wars’), Alexander put together three amazing illustrations for ‘Batman Begins’, ‘The Dark Knight’, and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ using Painter X and Photoshop. These would be pretty bad ass to see hanging in a theatre. Awesome job Alexander!

After months and months of struggling with the advanced levels of ‘Angry Birds’, I can say with no regret that I quit the “Birds”. Even though the game handed my ass to me on a silver platter, I do have to say that Julien Brasart’s rock rendition of the ‘Angry Birds’ theme song is quite catchy. Of course, I needed a reminder of what the original song sounded like (probably because I always played the damn game in silent mode), I can’t help but move my head back and forth after listening to this song. Will it revive my interest in ‘Angry Birds’ to give it another shot? Hell. Fucking. No.

What can I say about ‘The Schwarzenegger Trilogy’ other than… WTF? and OMG! This multi-neon colored animated short created by Brainbow Designs was created using over 1600 hand drawn animation cells and highlighters were used for color.

The 3 short animations all hand-drawn 1600 frames cell animation with Highlighters used for color, it was hell to make but we love the final videos!
The first video ‘5 4 3 2…’ is a series of continuous hollywood explosions edited into a simple beat.
The second ‘Galleria’ is a cut from Terminator 2 which is one of my favorite scenes from any movie.
The third ‘come on… get down’ is a original gangsta rap with lyrics provided by Arnold himself and music created by Harry McGowan
The short films premiered at the Standard Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles as part of Cine-Shorts which is a bi-monthly series that aims to provide a platform for local directors + aspiring filmakers making their mark in the city of los angeles.

After watching this maddening animated short, I can’t help but feel like I just drank a liter of scotch. All I know is I like it!

I rarely need to pick up my jaw off the floor, but I couldn’t help it after watching ‘Portal: No Escape’. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg (@dannyTRS), ‘Portal: No Escape’ stars Danielle Rayne (@DanielleRayne) as the lead in a short based on the popular video game, ‘Portal’ by Valve. Dan premiered his short fan-made film at this year’s San Diego Comic Con which was received with a standing ovation! One of the best parts of ‘Portal: No Escape’ has to be the great balance of sci-fi and realism. Films based on video games has never really been popular in Hollywood or the general movie-goer, but after watching ‘Portal: No Escape’, I feel like there is some hope. Now, we just need Hollywood to give Dan the director’s job and a proper budget to created a full-length Portal feature!

One of my favorite Summer flick this year was definitely Matthew Vaughn’s ‘X-Men: First Class’, so when it was announced that several deleted scenes will be included with the DVD and Bluray, I couldn’t be more than excited. Well, Fox was kind enough to release one of those deleted scenes early and I have to say, this is one of the funniest shit I have ever seen. After watching this scene about thirty times, I have come to two conclusions. First, Professor Xavier is a dick. Second, if you’re going to fuck with the “Master of Magnetism”, do it without him knowing.

Unfortunately, at the moment, there is no embed for the video so please click the image go to the video!
