20091215sackboy

Yo ho! Yo ho! A Sackboy’s life for me!

If you are a giant fan of pirates and Media Molecule’s LittleBigPlanet, that you are going to be very happy about a new DLC that will be dropping on December 22nd, 2009. Coming to wreak havoc on Sackboy’s universe will be the Captain Jack Sparrow and gang of Pirates of the Caribbean. The Pirates of the Caribbean Premium Level Kit will include a host of new costumes such as Sparrow, Barbosa, and Will Turner. On top of the new costumes goodness will be new PotC themed maps, trophies, and baddies.

Weigh Anchors and hoist the mainsail, we’re setting sail for the Caribbean. Rumours say that the fearsome Davy Jones and his mighty Kraken have come to LittleBigPlanet to wreak havoc and claim some sack folk to serve as Davy’s Crew. Once again, it’s going to fall to Sackboy to locate the only ship on LittleBigPlanet that has any chance of sending him back to the bottom of the sea.

After looking at the new screenshots and artwork for the new DLC, the new Sackboy costumes look incredibly cute and the integration of the Pirates universe to LBP is quite adorable. It almost feels like a LBP version of Monkey Island. My personal favorite has to be the new Will Turner costume. His little ‘stache and goatee makes him look like V from V for Vendetta. Looking at the screenshots makes me thirsty for some rum.

Robin Hood is definitely one of my favorite fictional heroes of all time. Regardless whether Robin Hood is adapted into an animation, a comedy, musical, or an action flick, the story of Robin Hood has always been an epic story. As many of you know, visionary director Ridley Scott (Alien, Aliens, etc.) has taken upon the job of retelling the story of Robin Hood. He has called upon his friend, Russell Crowe to play Robin Hood who he worked with for his Oscar winning film, Gladiator. Joining Crowe will be the sensational Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian, Mark Strong as Sir Godfrey, and Danny Huston as King Richard. Ridley Scott’s version of Robin Hood won’t feature any green tights or merry men singing. As usual, Scott’s vision of Robin Hood is set it a harsh world where everything is ugly, dark, and gritty. I do admit that for a second, I thought I was watching a scene from the Gladiator. Crowe’s visual portrayal of Robin Hood and the way that the movie was filmed definitely brings up Gladiator as comparison. Half way through the trailer, I wanted to jump up and pump my fist while screaming, “Maximus! Maximus! Maximus!” It seems that Hollywood and movie goers are hungry for more epics, especially with films like Clash of the Titans coming out next year. As a movie lover, I believe that the last great epic was Mel Gibson’s Braveheart and Ridley Scott’s Gladiator. Will Scott’s Robin Hood become a classic like Gladiator or will it be a flop like Kevin Costner’s Prince of Thieves? In my opinion, I trust Maximus. Maximus! Maximus! Maximus!

Robin Hood drops May 14th, 2010.  Hit the jump to check out this bad ass trailer!

The game has changed…

Get ready to drool some more. After the epic teaser trailer for TRON Legacy, we finally get the first movie poster. Very simple, yet action packed. The new poster features “Flynn Jr.” racin’ on a spiffy new upgraded light cycle with two yellow baddies on his six. On top of this cool poster, an image from the movie was released which features a lovely short haired Olivia Wilde. It’s killing me to see those illuminating line hug her body. I never wanted to be a line as much as I do right now.

TRON Legacy drops in theatres and IMAX in December 2010. Hit the jump to check out Olivia in her lighted glory.

When I first heard that a live action version of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is being made, I was a bit concerned. Now that I have seen the first trailer for the movie in question, my worries are all gone (almost…). Jon Turtletaub’s loosely adapted modern version of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice features Nicolas Cage as Balthazar Blake who recruits an “apprentice” (played by Jay Baruchel) to fight the forces of evil. Playing the antagonist of the story will be Toby Kebbell who plays a celebrity artist named Drake Stone who joins forces with Horvath (played by Alfred Molina) who has their own agenda to gain power. Couple lovely ladies are included as well. Actress Teresa Palmer will play the Apprentice’s love interest and the voluptuous Monica Bellucci will play Veronica who is a sorceress and a love interest of Balthazar Blake.

The trailer is quiet epic with great special effects of mechanical monstrosities roaming a modern day metropolis. On top of that, apparently Nick Cage can do a Hadouken fire ball. EAT IT DRAGON BALL EVOLUTION! EAT IT! Im NEVER excited about Nick Cage movies, but with the upcoming movie, Kick-Ass and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, 2010 might be a big (and profitable) year for “The Cage”.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice drops on July 16th, 2010. Hit the jump to check out the trailer and some official pics from the movie!

20091203scarwars

I came here… on a boat. Not a dime in my po-cket.

Scar Wars.. HA! This is a mash up that causes me nothing more than insane laughter. YouTube community member,  Devodana71 created this trailer for a movie called Scar Wars which is obviously a mash up of Brian De Palma’s Scarface and George Luca’s Star Wars. The mash up trailer is made of various rapid cuts of scenes from Scarface, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and others, set to the music of Scarface. That song really takes me back a bit. My favorite parts of the trailer has to be the narration and Grand Moff Tarkin. F*@kin’ cock-a-roach!

Hit the jump and check out the video. Beware of the language!
