Couple years ago (has it been that long since this blog started?), I featured an R2-D2 that has been modified into a complete game station including gaming consoles such as Nintendo, SEGA Genesis, and Playstation. Well, why not top that? Mark Bongo, the owner of Major League Mods designed this amazing R2-D2 game station featuring a X-Box 360 and also a projector with AUX ports. All the parts are built into the Artoo case internally with the projector lens in Artoo’s head and the X-Box 360 disc tray built into Artoo’s panels. Just as a cherry on top of the sundae, the Artoo console mod also features some snazzy blue LED lights around it. From the looks of it, it looks like the R2-D2 case is made from an R2-D2 waste basket from couple years back. Whatever it was made from, all I can say is I am insanely jealous of Mark Bongo’s creation and I wish I owned an X-Box 360 so I can build one of these.

“Star Wars recreated … by me and Nick Frost. Not as good as the original but on a par with The Phantom Menace” – Simon Pegg
When I first watched ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’ years ago, I always thought Simon Pegg (@simonpegg) and Nick Frost (@nickjfrost) as a real life version of R2-D2 and C-3P0. There are not that many witty comedic duos like Pegg and Frost and it shows in the new College Humor original video. Apparently (based on what was mentioned on the video), Pegg and Frost tried to replicate ‘Star Wars’ shot by shot and they only were able to manage one scene. Costumed as ridiculously as possible (it might be a trash can lid on Frost’s head), Pegg and Frost play C-3po and Artoo in the scene where they search for Obi-Wan Kenobi in the deserts of Tatooine. Well, due to their bickering (just like the Droid duo) they can’t even manage a walk through the desert. I hope there will be more scenes in the future.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost stars in ‘Paul’ and it opens on March 18th, 2011. Hit the jump to check out Pegg and Frost’s ‘Star Wars’

I don’t think there is anyone on television as witty as Stephen Colbert (of ‘The Colbert Report’ on Comedy Central). So it wasn’t a surprise to me when he blasted Mike Hukabee regarding his rude public comments about Natalie Portman being an bad example of the problem with people having a child out of wedlock. With Hukabee’s conservative views came a “hucka-bomb” by Colbert regarding Hukabee’s possible alliance to the Sith from ‘Star Wars’.
“Look, I’m no fan of single mothers either. But it’s Natalie Portman we’re talking about. That kid she’s pregnant with is Luke Skywalker! So logically, if you’re against her pregnancy that means you’ve aligned yourself politically with Emperor Palpatine. You’re alienating all of Tatooine. It’s a swing planet.”
Colbert, you witty bastard. It made no sense, and made complete sense. I guess that is the genius of Stephen Colbert. BTW: The Sith wouldn’t accept Hukabee either. Sith loves people who take responsibility for their children.

Silly Jedi… Do not underestimate the power of the DARKSIDE!
I want a daughter, JUST LIKE HER! Located at the “Tomorrowland Terrace Stage” in Disneyland, the ‘Star Wars’ stage show, “Jedi Training Academy” invites a select few children (usually around 4-12 years old) to wear the signature Jedi robe and join a “Jedi Master” on stage. During the show, the “Padawans” are taught the sacred Jedi Oath and given a lesson on how to use a lightsaber like a real Jedi Master. As a kicker, Darth Vader and a couple Stormtroopers makes their way onto the stage where the Padawans use their new skills to defeat the Sith Lord. After the “Dark Side” is defeated, the audience cheers and that is the end of the stage show. Well, that’s how it usually goes down. However, things do not go as planned when Sariah Gallego is confronted by Darth Vader. Instead of fighting Vader, cute Sariah kneels in front of the Sith Lord showing her true allegiance to the Dark Side and the Empire. As it happens, the audience erupts and the Jedi Master seems a bit shocked. He suggests that Sariah finds her way to the “Sith Academy” instead. I love how the Stormtrooper does a fist pump when it all goes down. Watching this video caused me tear up a bit and made me proud to be part of the Empire. Hail, Darth Sariah Gallego!

There’s good news and bad news. First the good news. Lucasfilm is finally going to re-release all of the ‘Star Wars’ movies in 3D for theatrical release. The 3D conversion will be handled by Industrial Light and Magic (who else would it be?). Just like before, Lucasfilm will be investing more money to the Star Wars collection to introduce the movies to a new younger audience who may have never seen Star Wars or only familiar with the animated series ‘Star Wars Clone Wars’. This will help revive the franchise (as if it needed to be revived) and bring forth a new generation of Jedi and Sith fans. Compared to the $10+ million that Lucasfilm invested in the 90’s to remaster the original trilogy, I’m pretty sure its pennies compared to the amount of money made over the years.
Now the bad news. The first movie to be released in 3D will be ‘Episode I: The Phantom Menace’. That means, come February 10th, 2012 (the first release date), you will be able to see Jar Jar and little Ani in 3D. As many of you might vomit over the idea, I would love to see the Pod Racer scenes and Darth Maul fight sequences in 3D. Watching Jar Jar in 3D might be worth it just to see that. Lucasfilm is planning to release one movie every year. So for those of you that are die-hard fans of the original trilogy, we won’t be able to see it until 2015 (Episode IV: A New Hope release year). That is pretty sad, but I think it will be worth the wait.

Do you have a swanky pad and want to decorate your digs with some ‘Star Wars’ stuff, but don’t want to have the general action figure and posters lying all over the place? Well, why not get an cool photograph of an iconic vehicle from ‘Star Wars’? Its both geeky and artistic and girls (and boys) would be mighty impressed. Berg Studios (an independent UK based studio) recently released two limited edition prints of a neat photograph of the Millennium Falcon and X-Wing. Limited at 100 prints worldwide, these giclees are printed on Hahnemuhle photo rag fine art paper (420mm x 594mm / 16.5″ x 23.4″) and come unframed (even though they are displayed in frames, which is real bullshit when I come across that kind of stuff). Berg Studios has these prints on sale through “Editions of 100″ (@editionsof100) and will cost you £60.00 (around $97 USD), plus shipping internationally. Even though these are quite expensive, I really think these would look pretty bad ass in my living room. What do you think? Too bad they didn’t make one for an AT-AT or Slave One. I would love something Empire related.

Okay… this is getting a bit weird now. I’m all for ‘Star Wars’ fans making crazy stuff and I pretty much seen it all, but I have NEVER seen a glass pipe that was made to look like Boba Fett’s helmet. Consider what it’s made for, I really have to hand it to the crafter on the amazing detail and work they put into putting this together. The curved glass pipe rolls around every inch of this “helmet pipe” and it is pretty amazing to look at. Everything from the visor to the antenna is worked into this piece. Okay, so you might wonder how and where the pipe end. It’s actually located inside the helmet so you can wear the sucker while using it to smoke “stuff”. Interesting huh? I sure thought so.
