When I was a kid, I never got to enjoy Playmobil. I kind of just went straight into LEGOs. HDMprojects decided to put together a little stop-motion animation parody of the trailer for the first season of ‘Game of Thrones’ using Playmobils. I really dig the custom paint job on these Playmobil figures.

What do you do when you have a large barrel organ, 20,000+ LEGO bricks and two master LEGO builders? You create the greatest ‘Star Wars’ LEGO sculpture EVER. Thats exactly what design firm, Serviceplan Campaign did with the help of professional LEGO builders, Rene Hoffmeister and Axel Al-Rubaie for the premiere of ‘Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace 3D’ in Munich, Germany. The hand cracked rotating sculptures features landscape and vehicles of Tatooine, Hoth, Endor, and the Death Star. What’s really amazing is that the LEGO buildings, landscape, and vehicles on the sculpture is not random. When the organ is turned, the different parts of the sculpture strikes a key on a keyboard playing the theme song to ‘Star Wars’. If you can’t believe that it is possible, that’s okay. Even Rene Hoffmeister didn’t believe it can be done in the beginning. This organ has already made is way around various theatres in Germany and later this year will find a permanent home in LEGOLand Germany. Sigh… I wish it was here in California…

You can’t help but wonder what it would have been like if Darth Vader raised Luke as a child instead of Force choking the shit out of Padme and breaking all ties with his children. Well, thanks to the very talented cartoonist, Jeffery Brown, we will get to see in his new book, “Darth Vader and Son” (from Chronicle Books). Dropping on May 4th (Star Wars Day), we will get to get a glimpse into the world of Sith fatherhood. The craziest part of this book has to be the fact that it is officially licensed by LucasArts. Wow. You can preorder your copy at Chronicle Books.

Oh man. Somebody fucked up didn’t they? TheOneRing got their little Hobbit hands on some leaked preliminary box art for LEGO’s newly announced ‘Lord of the Rings’ LEGO play sets. From the looks of the grainy photos, I’m all all down for these awesome LEGO sets. I do wonder what size the Hobbit LEGOs will be compared to regular LEGO characters. Hopefully its to scale. Look out of these Lord of the Rings LEGOs to be available in your local toy stores in Summer 2012.
