You can draw inspiration from anything. Even a crazy photoshopped image of Darth Maul playing hockey with a “Frankenstick” on Reddit can inspire someone to produce something crazy. That is the case with AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins who decided to make this photoshop marvel a reality and put it in the hands of Slovak right winger and decent puck handler, Tomáš Jurčo. Awesomeness ensues (until he breaks it).
Am I a sucker for everything and anything related to Disney? Yes. Yes I am. This probably explains why I was floored when I saw digital artist, Kathryn Hudson’s (AKA spicysteweddemon) amazing collection of “Disney Prom” illustrations. The thing I really appreciate about this set is that Kathryn put together an brilliant set of illustrations of iconic Disney characters with her own stylized twist. It’s also a big plus that she gave much love to lesser popular Disney animated features like Atlantis: The Lost Empire, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Tarzan. From the look of Eric, I hope Ariel is packin’ some pepper spray. Keep up the amazing work Kathryn!
If you want the world to take notice of your skills as a digital artist, this just might be the way to do it. Xander David-Hugh AKA Neon Visual, an “undiscovered UK AFX artist” put together this amazing fan-made video of the iconic TARDIS opening for Doctor Who. If you follow me on Twitter, you will know my dislike for the newest version of the opening and as a fan of Doctor Who and digital art, I can’t help, but want to help spread the word about Xander’s video so that Steven Moffat and BBC takes notice of this guy’s amazing work.
It looks like NBC is really going after the geek demographic with their new television series, She-Ra starring Australian pop sensation, Kylie Minogue. Plus, Alfie Allen AKA Theon Greyjoy as “Skelly” makes this a must-watch.
