Wow wow wow! Custom toy and doll crafter, Elisabeth Redel (AKA PinkAxolotl) of Germany just may be one of the coolest girlfriend you can have. As a gift for her boyfriend, Elisabeth created an amazing custom Monopoly game themed after the hit video game, ‘Fallout’.

This is a gift for my boyfriend. I spend a lot of time making the board and all cards in the Fallout style… The board was printed on a 50 x 50 cm PVC plate. Every street is a location from the Fallout game. “GO” is now “G.O.A.T.” and “free parking” is the “please stand by” screen. Every card has one of the Fallout3 or Fallout New Vegas perks on it and has a really cool old playingcard image on the back. I use a lot of really cool stockphotos in this project…

That is pretty fucking amazing in my opinion. It’s not like she did a half-ass job on this project out of markers and construction paper. If I didn’t read the description first, I would have thought a company was producing a Fallout Monopoly game. On that note, someone get this amazing custom board game licensed and made dammit!

I’m not a “picture and caption” kind of guy and I have no use for that on my site and leave that for my tumblr page (Kicking Ewoks for Fun!), but I could pass up the chance to spotlight this awesome cosplayer. Photo taken by Socal Photography at the recent Emerald City Comicon (which took place on March 4-6 at Seattle, Washington). As you can see, this is a brilliant cosplay of Ernie the Chicken as Boba Fett as seen in ‘The Family Guy’s hilarious take on ‘Star Wars’, “Something, Something, Something Dark Side”. From the looks of it, the cosplayer used the standard Boba Fett helmet from Hasbro and created the rest of the costume. I can’t help be in awe of this costume. I really wish I knew who the person behind the helmet was so I can give them some credit and some love.

See! That was more than a caption! Right?

Couple years ago (has it been that long since this blog started?), I featured an R2-D2 that has been modified into a complete game station including gaming consoles such as Nintendo, SEGA Genesis, and Playstation. Well, why not top that? Mark Bongo, the owner of Major League Mods designed this amazing R2-D2 game station featuring a X-Box 360 and also a projector with AUX ports. All the parts are built into the Artoo case internally with the projector lens in Artoo’s head and the X-Box 360 disc tray built into Artoo’s panels. Just as a cherry on top of the sundae, the Artoo console mod also features some snazzy blue LED lights around it. From the looks of it, it looks like the R2-D2 case is made from an R2-D2 waste basket from couple years back. Whatever it was made from, all I can say is I am insanely jealous of Mark Bongo’s creation and I wish I owned an X-Box 360 so I can build one of these.

I love it when people take LEGO fandom to the next level. Poster designers, OldRedJalopy created a pretty impressive collection of posters featuring the 2011 Oscar “Best Picture” nominated films with a LEGO twist. Each nominated film’s respective posters such as ‘Black Swan’, ‘Inception’, and ‘The King’s Speech’ are recreated integrating “LEGO people” in place of the human actors. I especially love the work done on Danny Boyle’s  ‘127′ hours as it features an 8-bit style background featuring a LEGO cliff side. Unfortunately, unlike Aron Ralston (played brilliantly by James Franco) who cut his hand off to escape, LEGO Aron would only have to unplug his hand.

It seems like mash-ups are the rage these days. Anyone with a couple DVDs and a video editing program can put one of these together and I’m happy that they can. YouTuber, forensicator8 put together a pretty creative mash-up of the trailer for Zack Snyder’s ‘Sucker Punch’ with clips from various Disney animated movies. Replacing the gun-toting vixens in the trailer are the Disney princess such as Cinderella and Ariel (from Little Mermaid). It was pretty cool to see the dialogue synced so well with the animation and it was even cooler to see some love for Disney’s ‘Atlantis’, even though the story was really shitty. Gawd, I cannot wait for Sucker Punch to come out already.

Los Angeles based illustrator, Reza Rasoli AKA rezatron (@rezatron) like to doodle zombies in his spare time. Reza takes some of our favorite pop culture iconic characters like Link from ‘Legend of Zelda’ and Marty from ‘Back to the Future’ and puts a nasty zombie spin on each one. While most “zombie” illustrations are gross and hideous, I find Reza’s zombies to be humorous and whimsical. There is something very endearing behind the blood and gore. You can see Reza’s various work on his website.

Matthew Vaughn has been quoted that ‘X-Men: First Class’ will be the ‘Batman Begins’ of the X-Men universe. When comparisons like that is made, we expect excellence. Well, we didn’t get that yesterday at the ‘X-Men: First Class’ Facebook page. What we got were probably the two ugliest fucking posters of ALL TIME. All it was, is a black silhouette of “Future” Professor X and Magneto with a large face of the “First Class” version of themselves floating at their crotch. I have to ask. What dumb bastard at the studio made these and why do they still have a job when there are tons of artists that can do better sitting on a toilet that can’t find a paying job? For example, “Duckala” created two awesome fan-made ‘X-Men: First Class’ posters that blew my mind. It was simple, but beautifully done. It serves as a great tribute to classic poster art from movies like ‘Vertigo’. Fox needs to get their shit together and scrap these. It’s not like a lot of work went into them.
