There’s good news and bad news. First the good news. Lucasfilm is finally going to re-release all of the ‘Star Wars’ movies in 3D for theatrical release. The 3D conversion will be handled by Industrial Light and Magic (who else would it be?). Just like before, Lucasfilm will be investing more money to the Star Wars collection to introduce the movies to a new younger audience who may have never seen Star Wars or only familiar with the animated series ‘Star Wars Clone Wars’. This will help revive the franchise (as if it needed to be revived) and bring forth a new generation of Jedi and Sith fans. Compared to the $10+ million that Lucasfilm invested in the 90’s to remaster the original trilogy, I’m pretty sure its pennies compared to the amount of money made over the years.
Now the bad news. The first movie to be released in 3D will be ‘Episode I: The Phantom Menace’. That means, come February 10th, 2012 (the first release date), you will be able to see Jar Jar and little Ani in 3D. As many of you might vomit over the idea, I would love to see the Pod Racer scenes and Darth Maul fight sequences in 3D. Watching Jar Jar in 3D might be worth it just to see that. Lucasfilm is planning to release one movie every year. So for those of you that are die-hard fans of the original trilogy, we won’t be able to see it until 2015 (Episode IV: A New Hope release year). That is pretty sad, but I think it will be worth the wait.

It looks like Warner Bros. is in high gear to promote the shit out of Zack Snyder’s ‘Sucker Punch’. Earlier this week, the newest trailer titled “Trailer Painter” was released and now, we get see some new posters that was released international. Designed to look like vintage propaganda poster, it is fitting considering the movie takes place in a 50’s post-war era. I’m convinced that the movie is going to be a visual treat and probably be an amazing shoot em up type of movie. On the flip-side, I have no idea how the story will go and will be tuning to see what the “experts” say when the reviews start rolling out. I’m still not convinced considering I have no faith in Jaime Chung (Amber) and that “High School Musical” girl’s (Blondie) acting ability. On the other hand, I have completely fallen for Baby Doll and Rocket. They are adorbz.

Asia seriously loves their online gaming. French game informer, GameBlog.fr recently reported about a new theme park being made in China based on the Blizzard Entertainment’s ‘World of Warcraft’ and ‘Starcraft’. Named, “Joyland”, the theme park will be divided in five parts, each representing a different type of park such as “Terrain of Warcraft and “Universe of Starcraft”. The park is suppose to sit in Wunjin district, China and its more than just conceptual pictures on paper. Local TV new stations have captured footage of the park being built as we speak. Joyland is suggests that Joyland will open in March, but I really doubt they can get all of this done in less than one month. Unless they have every single person in China work on this theme park. I think if they do make the March deadline, I wouldn’t dare visit or ride anything for at least five years after the park’s opening. Just in case stuff gets messy. I figure five years is a good time frame for everything that can go wrong to go wrong. I’m no guinea pig.

Hello, boys! Michelle Trachtenberg is all grown up!
Yeah, so based on the feedback I got from the post regarding Summer Glau’s Esquire photoshoot, I noticed ya geektroopers (both boys and girls) really like pictures of pretty girls. Go figure right? Well, to cater to the masses and to add some erotic eye candy to igeektrooper, I figure why not just bring you news regarding any new magazine photo shoots that pertains to you favorite gals from geeky tv shows and movies. You would like that wouldn’t you?
Well, up next is Buffy Summer’s little sister, Dawn who was played by Michelle Trachtenberg in Joss Whedon’s ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ television show. Well, since then, Michelle hasn’t really done anything “geeky” other than doing the voice for Valkyrie in ‘The Super Hero Squad Show’. Hopefully, she’ll make a triumphant return to a new show we can really get into. Currently, Michelle is gracing the cover of Maxim magazine this month (March 2011 issue) and by the photos in her spread, it looks like it going to get harder and harder (no pun intended) to see her as the that fourteen year old member of the “Scooby Gang”.

Yeah… So this isn’t too geek related, but it does have something to do with director/producer Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, Grindhouse, Predators) so you just have to bear with it. Also, I’m a die hard fan of the LOS ANGELES LLLAAAAAKKKKKKKEEEEEEERRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! During the NBA All-Star weekend, Nike premiered a short called “The Black Mamba” starring Kobe Bryant of the LOS ANGELES LLLAAAAAKKKKKKKEEEEEEERRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! If you were not aware, Kobe’s nickname is “The Black Mamba” hence the title of the short. The mini-movie was developed and directed by Robert Rodriguez. So with all Rodriguez projects, you have your cameos. Contesting Kobe’s reign in the NBA are “The Crippler” played by Danny Trejo (Machete), Mr. Suave played by Bruce Willis, and Kanye West as “The Boss”. Each of these baddies are here to stop the Black Mamba and collect his shoes as a trophy. Applying Robert Rodriquez’s talent for violence and action in film into a Nike commercial seems like a weird idea, but the end result is quite entertaining. Outside of Kobe’s medicore acting, it was fun to watch. Especially due to the fact that I’m a fan of Kobe and the LOS ANGELES LLLAAAAAKKKKKKKEEEEEEERRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

Many of you know how much I am looking forward to the release of director Zack Snyder’s ‘Sucker Punch’. As a long time fan of action, comics, and Japanese animation, Sucker Punch is a serious visual beauty. Of course, we have no idea what the story will be like and whether it’s any good, but girls in school outfits with machine guns and katanas seems like a brilliant way to spend two hours. The newest trailer to hit the web is called the “Trailer Painter”. The trailer has a lot of clips we have already seen in the previous versions, with a couple new scenes. What I like the most about “Trailer Painter” is that they cut out the narration nonsense and pretty much made it into an action packed music video backed by Silversun Pickup’s song, “Panic Switch”. One of the unique things about the “Trailer Painter” is that you can go to the official site, and pick frames from the trailer to customize using an online coloring application. Once you are done putting your personal touch to one of the many frames in the trailer, you can play the video featuring your work and many others submitted to the site. The “painted” trailer is a bit of a mind fuck because the visuals alter at such a fast rate, it almost comes off as a distorted video effect. Pretty cool in my opinion.

Ah… It makes so little sense, but as an avid follower of everything NASCAR, I can’t help but be intrigued and excited about the introduction of the “Wreckers” in ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon’. If you are not familiar with what a “Wrecker” is, the Wreckers are an elite commando sub-division of the Autobots. The Wreckers were first introduced in ‘The Transformers’ comics by Marvel and since have seen action in story such as ‘Transformers: Beast Machines’. Of course, in all the previous appearances of the Wreckers, not once were they a NASCAR stock car. Well, at the running of the Daytona 500 last weekend, Team Hendrick Motorsports (team includes drivers such as Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jeff Gordon, and five time champion, Jimmie Johnson) and Paramount put together an impressive display of “Wreckers” at the race. The Wreckers on display were Roadbuster, Top Spin and Leadfoot. It’s pretty cool to see Dale Jr’s 88 Amp Energy drink Chevy Impala decked out with missles and a multi-barrel heavy machine gun. Too bad they can’t drive these during the actual race. That would make it much more interesting to watch.
I’m expecting at least a couple or all the Wreckers to not make it to the end of TF3. Why’s that? Well, pretty much all the Wreckers get killed by Megatron and Galvatron in the comics. I’m just sayin’…
