Korea really cracks me up sometimes. As a natural born Korean, it is hard not to be embarrassed when something like this comes up. Apparently, in 1983, Korea produced an animation series called Computer haekjeonham pokpa daejakjeon‘ (rough translation: Computer Nuclear Warship Bombing Operation) also known as ‘Savior of the Earth‘. Savior of the Earth came to the spotlight when the series was found to be a direct rip-off of the movie TRON (the first one). Heres the plot:

The evil Dr. Butler wants to control mankind’s behavior with his computer. By using the “ULTRA ENERGY” he has discovered he throws the world into chaos. As more and more countries become affected by this evil genius a World Summit is called and a plan to capture him is put into operation. Dr. Kim, Sheila and Keith are entrusted with this mission but their troubles are just beginning. Our heroes enter a strange and deadly electronic world and begin to play THE DEATH GAME.

One of the more examples of copyright infringement is the infamous “Last Disc Battle” in Savior of the Earth. Everything from identity discs to a CLU look-a-like is in this less than spectacular battle. On behalf of my people, I would like to say “I am sorry”.  Hit the jump to check out the shame.

My prayers have been answered! After a long wait, there will finally be an awesome Indiana Jones figure. Hot Toys released a teaser regarding a new “Movie Masterpiece” 12 inch collectible action figure for ‘Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark“! This time, Hot Toys will take a crack at our favorite professor of archeology. In the past, action figure giant, Medicom Toys created less than spectacular Indy 12 inch action figures that lacked detail or articulation. That isn’t the case with Hot Toys. If you are familiar with Hot Toys’ awesome “Movie Masterpiece” figure line, you know that their sculptors are one of the best in the industry. Their attention to detail makes these more than toys. Some of the facial sculpts are so good that people think they are looking at a picture of the actor/actress and not at a toy. Hot Toys will be unveiling their first Indy figure during Hot Toys’ 10th anniversary exhibit during December 24-26 in Tokyo, Japan.

Dear Fans, our 10th Anniversary Exhibition in Tokyo is coming in just a week! Are you ready for that?
At the event, we will have new and greatly expected licenses & products to be unveiled!

To kill your thirst, we now proudly announce the FIRST licensed product here which must be highly anticipated by fans for long!! Here, we are excited to bring you with the teaser of our MMS DX Indiana Jones Collectible Figure from the Indiana Jones – Raiders of the Lost Ark movie, which is a collaborated project with Sideshow Collectibles, and will be FIRST unveiled in the Hot Toys 10th Anniversary Exhibition <Tokyo Event> on Dec 24-26, 2010!!!

In 2011, we will have even more breathtaking, overwhelming and unexpected licenses to be announced! Stay tuned!

THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH US!!!

Based, on their tease, what really opened by eyes was the words, “THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH US!!!“. Can it be true? Is Hot Toys going to move into producing “Movie Masterpiece” action figures for ‘Star Wars‘? From what was hinted, it looks to be true. We won’t know for sure until more info is released, but I think there is a good chance that Star Wars will be joining Hot Toys’ vast collection of licenses. HURRAH!

Actor, Christian Bale has to be a little bit insane. For Peter Travers‘ entertainment segment “All for Popcorn“, Bale and co-star Mark Walberg sat down to promote their new movie, ‘The Fighter’. During the interview, Travers challenges Bale to end the segment in a song. Possibly a rap song with beatbox. Well, instead Bale belts out the theme song for ‘The Powerpuff Girls‘. Looks like his daughter’s love of the series influenced the actor a lot. Unfortunately, Walberg’s small reprisal as Dirk Diggler when he sings ‘You Got the Power‘ by the band ‘Alabama‘ is not as cool. Bale never fails to surprise people. I loved the whole interview, but I have to ask… when did he get an accent?

Well, this is a first. An “official” (used very loosely) collaboration between Disney and Playboy. Yes I said it. Disney and Playboy. Playboy will be releasing a new feature called “Game On” which is a “sexy tribute to the neon-lit TRON revival”. What can be hotter than sexy ladies and light cycles? Playboy models, Irina Voronina and Sasckya Porto will be letting it all hang out in a ultra-neon pictorial themed to the world of TRON in celebration of the upcoming release of TRON: Legacy. Photographed by Jared Ryder and illustrated by Nigel Evan Dennis, these sexy dames are featured in various costumes (which end up coming off) and on the famous fan-made light cycles by the Parker Bros. Considering this is a tribute and Disney probably had no say on what was produced, the make up and costumes are well done and look very similar to what is being featured in the TRON: Legacy trailer. Wow…. nudity and identity discs… very sexy.

Hit the jump to check out some SFW photos from the pictorial and a NSFW video direct from Playboy. You’ve been warned!

This indeed is a sad day. Sources close to Marvel Studios and Robert Downey Jr. has confirmed that actor and director Jon Favreau will NOT be directing Iron Man 3. Favreau directed and produced the first and second installment in the Iron Man film series, but will step down for the third. Marvel Studios’ man in charge, Kevin Feige “sees it as an opportunity to bring some more fire to the franchise”. I am not sure whether I can see this as a positive. Considering, that Favreau’s vision and ability to tell a great story is what made Iron Man as great as it is, it is difficult to think that another director can come in fill in those huge shoes. Like Christopher Nolan, it would have been great to see Favreau finish his story in his arc in Iron Man like Nolan is doing with Batman. There was a bit of news coming out during the production of Iron Man 2 that Favreau was not happy with the interference and meddling that was coming from Marvel Studios. There were claims that instead of letting Favreau make the sequel that he wanted, he was forced to make a film that seemed like a huge trailer for the Avengers movie. None of these claims were confirmed, but by the looks of it, it looks like Favreau rather walk away than go through the same ordeal. Favreau will stay on as producer for the Avengers movie that is being directed by Joss Whedon. Favreau has just wrapped up production of Cowboys and Aliens and will be moving onto Disney’s Magic Kingdom. I wonder if Favreau’s leave will affect the return of RDJ to reprise his role as Tony Stark. Whatever happens, all I can say is: Thank you Jon. Thank you for making an awesome Iron Man movie.

201012thortrailer

A few months back after San Diego Comic Con 2010, Marvel Studio and Paramount Picture’s official trailer for Thor leaked online due to grubby fans and their digital cameras who all decided to upload their shaky and blurry trailer footage obtained during an exclusive screening onto YouTube. Well, after months of work by the studios to take down any existence of thistrailer, it is now available on Yahoo! officially released by the Marvel and Paramount.

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, “Thor,” which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful, young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

As you may guess it, it is no different from what was shown at SDCC. Well, the only difference will probably be that the trailer is available in HD and won’t cause motion sickness after viewing. If you still get motion sickness, than you are a sissy and you mind as well stay home when Thor opens in theatres on May 6th 2011. Hit the jump to check out the official movie poster (released yesterday) and the “official trailer” for Thor.
