The duo of J.J. Wyman and J.J. Abrams were responsible for the sci-fi epic, Fringe. Now, they are back with a new series set in year 2048 called, Almost Human.

This action-packed police drama set 35 years in the future centers around the unlikely partnership between a part-machine cop and a part-human robot.

Executive-produced by Emmy Award winner J.J. Abrams (”Fringe,” “Lost,” the “Star Trek” and “Mission: Impossible” franchises) and creator J.H. Wyman (”Fringe,” “The Mexican”) and starring Karl Urban (”Star Trek”), Michael Ealy (”Sleeper Cell,” “Common Law”) and Emmy Award nominee Lili Taylor (”Six Feet Under,”), ALMOST HUMAN is a high-tech, high-stakes action drama set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. An unlikely partnership is forged when a part-machine cop (Urban) is forced to pair with a part-human robot (Ealy) as they fight crime and investigate a deeper cover-up in a futuristic new world.

Almost Human is definitely on my “must-watch” list for the new Fox Fall season, especially with Karl Urban on board. Hopefully, it will be easier to keep Almost Human on the air than Fringe.

At this point in cinema and television history, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci could pretty much snap their fingers and a pilot of theirs will get the green light. That just might be the case with their newest series, Sleepy Hollow.

Ichabod Crane wakes up from the throes of death 250 years in the future to find the world on the brink of destruction and learn he is humanity’s only hope. From co-creators/executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (the “Star Trek” and “Transformers” franchises, “Fringe”) comes the adventure thriller SLEEPY HOLLOW. In this modern-day retelling of Washington Irving’s classic, ICHABOD CRANE (Tom Mison, “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen”) is resurrected and pulled two and a half centuries through time to find that the world is on the brink of destruction and that he is humanity’s last hope, forcing him to team up with a contemporary police officer (Nicole Beharie, “Shame,” “American Violet”) to unravel a mystery that dates back to the founding fathers.

The last “retelling” of Sleepy Hollow I enjoyed was Tim Burton and Johnny Depp’s version, but after checking out this trailer, I have to say that I’m a little bit interested. Sadly, I’m a total sucker for supernatural and fantasy television shows.

Sleepy Hollow joins Fox’s 2013 Fall line-up later this year.

Director Bryan Singer posted a nice little tweet of Hugh Jackman (as Wolverine) and Nicholas Hoult (as non-beatmode Beast) on the set of X-Men: Days of the Future Past. From the looks of their clothing, this is set in the seventies in Xavier’s secret underground headquarters. The only questions I have are: How did Beast go back to normal and didn’t Wolverine tell Xavier and Magneto to fuck off?

X-Men: Days of the Future Past opens July 18, 2014.

The first trailer for Andy Goddard’s (Downton Abbey) Dracula has hit the web and it looks pretty awesome. Staring Jonathan Rhys Meyers of The Tudors fame, the new retelling of Dracula takes a “twisted, sophisticated and sexy” take on the iconic classic by Bram Stoker.

Synopsis: Golden Globe winner Jonathan Rhys Meyers (”The Tudors”) stars in this provocative new drama as one of the world’s most iconic characters.

It’s the late 19th century, and the mysterious Dracula has arrived in London, posing as an American entrepreneur who wants to bring modern science to Victorian society. He’s especially interested in the new technology of electricity, which promises to brighten the night – useful for someone who avoids the sun. But he has another reason for his travels: he hopes to take revenge on those who cursed him with immortality centuries earlier. Everything seems to be going according to plan… until he becomes infatuated with a woman who appears to be a reincarnation of his dead wife.

From the producers of the critically acclaimed, Emmy Award-winning hit “Downton Abbey” comes “Dracula,” a twisted, sophisticated and sexy take on Bram Stoker’s classic novel, proving that some stories never die.

Dracula is set be an hour-long drama mini-series and set to premiere sometime in the Fall/Winter 2013.

Following the news last week that Joss Whedon’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been picked up for a full season by ABC, a handful of cool S.H.I.E.L.D. identification cards made it onto the Internet. Each card identifies each new character and their roles in S.H.I.E.L.D.. Also, another interesting bit that made it on the web is a surveillance image of Skye. The mention of “The Rising Tide” on the image suggests that Rising Tide may be a protagonist in the series.

BTW: Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen decided to put up a little Vine video showing his reaction once he heard that S.H.I.E.L.D. has been picked up.

It looks like the fine folks at ABC and Marvel TV is trying to create some buzz for the newly picked up Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (not that it needs it). There is a brand new website called “We Are The Rising Tide” that asks one simple question. “Who is S.H.I.E.L.D.?“. The site features a lot of conspiracy theory and video featuring The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, and some random S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives. There isn’t much on the site right now, but hopefully new content with more details will be added until the premiere of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..
