Before Bryan Singer was signed onto Superman Returns, Tim Burton and Kevin Smith was originally signed on to direct and pen Superman Lives. Probably, due to the insane obsure vision of Tim Burton, the script and team was canned by Warner Bros. Along with script went Nicolas Cage, who was reported to have been cast at Superman. After a decade, we finally get a glimpse of what Superman Lives may have been and it is not pretty. Photos are leaked of Nic Cage in a screen test donning a horrific Superman costume. From the looks of the picture, Nic Cage apparently had to get himself wasted to gain enough courage to wear the outfit. We don’t know if this photo is legit or photoshop tom-foolery, but it kind of makes you wonder whether Superman Lives could have been better than Superman Returns.
