Square Enix is infamous for their product line based on their video game and Japanese animation titles… but Resident Evil 5?
Any gamer can tell you that the Resident Evil series is produced by Capcom, however, it is a bit of a confusion of what Square Enix would produce toys for a video game title that they don’t own.

20090717sqexresidentevillogoI would have to say… I don’t care. How can anyone complain?! Square Enix makes some of the craziest action figures out on the market.
Square Enix’s Play Arts line are top notch and they rarely ever disappoint. This can be the start of better things to come.

Can you freaking imagine? Dead or Alive Christie Play Arts action figure. (/drool)

Any action figure enthusiast can tell you that the recently released Resident Evil 5 Player Select action figures from NECA weren’t so great.
The figures definitely had a mediocre sculpt and the articulation isn’t so great. Also, as many collectors have found, the quality of the paint has always been less than spectacular.

The question is, with the release of a Resident Evil 5 action figure from Square Enix, where does that put NECA on the battlefield of action figure manufacturing? NECA currently produces action figures for Capcom such as the Street Fighter 4 Player Select series (which is also licensed by Capcom). Does that mean that there is a possibility of a Square Enix version of a Street Figther figure in the near future?

This can be very interesting considering 2 action figure giants will be crossing paths in the retail market.

Which would you buy?

BTW… If Square Enix is reading this, please remember ‘DOA: Xtreme Volleyball Play Arts’!
